You've already come to your own conclusion, you're just too much of a pussy to commit so you want validation that your beliefs are correct.

Nutrition timing is one of the least important aspects of nutrition, but you should eat something before working out (was it about 1.30h before?) and immediately after, to promote recovery.
If you're cutting and don't want to overthink multiple small meals, an eating window around the time you would work out is just something that happens on its own, because you've already eaten all your calories.

The only reason to IF, is if you are having problems with staying in your caloric objective of the day while eating on a "normal" pattern.
