I used to have the cardio and stamina to workout with a buddy of mine who was a D1 Athlete and could keep up with him pretty well. I started drinking and smoking weed probably around the age of 20-21 and have for the last 5 years while a student (undergrad and grad school).

I stopped smoking several months ago and on my first run couldn't even go half a mile without gasping for air. Stopped drinking recently as well and my life has improved in every way. Our culture tells us that it's normal and OK to have some drinks every night. That it's normal and acceptable to go out on Friday and Saturday and get trashed. Everyone around me is fat and out of shape like I was though and I'm only just now getting out of that mind set.

Sorry for the blog post but this is a topic near and dear to my heart. If any anons out there think they're drinking too much and are thinking about quitting do it. It's the best thing that's happened to me in years. Wish I never started tbqh famalam.
