I never thought I'd post one of these but this forum was quite helpful to me over the last year and a bit.
I started out at about 6'2 160lbs. I would definitely classify myself as skinny-fat. As of now, I'm about 210lbs and could probably start cutting at this point. My journey was definitely slow and steady... I didn't really do a "bulk" phase as I didn't want to put on a significant amount of fat and have a cut that resulted in my losing a lot of mass. So, I basically just kept a slight overage in calories, kept my cardio going, and hit the weights.
As for weights, I kept with the 4 day split, 5-8 rep range. Chest/Tris; Back/Bis; Shoulders/Abs/Calves; Legs. I really think the 4-day split is perfect balance for keeping you motivated but not requiring too much of a time commitment.
Diet was pretty standard... really nothing insane. I kept it to around 20/40/40 fats carbs protein. Lots of whole grains and no unprocessed foods. Supplements were only creatine and a few different vitamins.
