How does /fit/ deal with noise?
I'm from a quiet town and I moved to a city in Germany for university two years ago. I haven't been home in about a year and it's become apparent to me that the german fucks were quite efficient at picking the worst spot for a dorm possible. My bedroom wall is literally next to a boxing gym, there's a truck parking so fucking 10-ton trucks pass by constantly and the whole room shakes, I've got a school, a gym, some tribal meet-up, a christian choir, a bakery and a fuckload of turks making noise constantly. And some guy on a motorcycle going around thinking being loud will compensate for his small dick.
Do I just get headphones? I had never realized it until now but this is destroying me mentally. How the fuck do people live like this?
Noise cancelling headphones / white noise machines are your best bet, these are kind of hard ones to fix so your best bet might just be trying to move. Sorry brah
A loud fan might help to flatten the other noises

that's the conclusion i reached, i was looking for a solution that doesn't really exist i guess, moving is out of the question though

that sounds smart, my roommate has one aimed at the window, had no idea why but this might explain it
i totally understand remote little mountain towns now by the way, modern society was a mistake

I live in the heart of a big nordic city and I have no issues with noise because this building is new and they put effort into sound insulation. I pay higher rent than most but reap the benefits of a good days sleep (I work nightshift)
