TFW got my degree in teaching and while I would enjoy doing it.

>Fat, not woman = Hard as shit time landing a position at a school that isn't super low economic population.

Really should have just went and got a comp sci or at least cisco/support certs instead.

I'd probably make more money but soon my savings run out and my college apartment lease is over December so I have to find some job by then.

/fat/ bros do not go into teaching unless you're ok with poverty.

Hardest side of things is most companies treat my Bachelors degree like it's trash since they think current education degrees are still super easy cake walks like they were in the 90s.

/fat/ side of things I had too much to eat today and still didn't break 2.5k calories. I'm ok with that.

Last day of vacation. I've enjoyed eating at TDEE. Hopefully this will help me break out of the stall I've been in.

We're looking for 12 people to fill up all the vacated slots in the contest. I now only need the following information to join and participate -

Name -
Height -
Starting Weight -
Current Weight -
Goal Weight -

From there I'll calculate your pounds to lose and then you're in for the 13th weigh-in on Friday and guaranteed a bracket in the August Weight-loss tournament.

How does this excerptanything about CICO? It's claim is that this type of exercise is more effective in losing weight, not that CICO isn't important.

>burned less calories during their actual workouts

>keep burning fat after you've racked the bike

Burning fat is burning calories, it's just saying the nature of the workout means you keepburning after you've stopped actively working out. That isn't news, every workout does that to some degree, though this article is saying this exercise is particularly effective.

This isn't saying anything about CICO.

I like to run on the treadmill for 5-10 minutes, about the time I takes to get myself to a really high HR which burns out 30% of my breakfast, which is basically oatmeal and cinnamon and walnuts and then start my fat burning elliptical workout where I lose 600 calories in 60 mins with 1 break and I also drink plenty of water as I'm doing it to get rid of ketones. At the end of my workout I eat 35-40g of protein.

Rate my cardio workout.
>>
>>42323463
>elliptical workout where I lose 600 calories in 60 mins with 1 break
Hrm

I still stand by my stairclimber routine.
>13 minutes including cooldown
>Do well over 250+ calories, but never quite 300 unless you really cheat in the cool down
>Repeat x4
1k in less than an hour.

I go to PF and use the stair climbers there. I don't play around with the programs, I just liked using the "Kilimanjaro" one and rationalized that it'd be good training for hiking. Intensity levels here are meaninglessly subjective, but if you're doing the same machine, I have it on 13, maybe 12 for 18 minute stints.

Disclaimer: I use the machine's estimate of calories burned based on your weight.

Ellipticals have always felt fucking odd on my knees. I hated doing them.

>>42324701 Me at 250lbs and ready to be held accountable. After incredible encouragement from a friend, I knew I had to start to lose weight. I was over the 300lbs mark and didn't have any love interests/anyone interested in me so I never really cared to lose weight and look better. I have very low self-confidence (especially because of my man-boobs) but my confidence has been climbing the more I lose weight, take pictures of myself, and accept and love my body. I gave up pop/fast food (I'll have something maybe once/twice a month but I can't stand fast food now). I haven't weighed 250 since high school and as fat as I am, I feel so skinny right now. Those like me that have lived their whole lives fat don't know anything different -- the daily grind of eating. This is my first day on /fit/ and I'm ready to leave my old life behind.

ive always had problems(go up and down between 250 and 160 over the last 15 years) with the obliques retaining width as i lose weight,

Is there anything i can do or is it just how my body stores fat? I dont have alot of front, but i get wider as i get heavier(from 160-200+)

Most of the fat left on me is in my lower belly/love handles it seems, no idea why. I'm assuming i'm almost at the point where it will start to go because my arms and legs don't have a tremendous amount of fat left compared to months ago.

Could be because of my super wide hips or something i guess.
>>
>>42325533
don't worry bro, as you get closer to about ~160 it will fix itself, keep you the good work and stay motivated!

Just alternate using the two products.
Also if you guys like the taste of salt but can't handle too much sodium, try the potassium salts mentioned above.

no anon, this is a sign of early remission of the eating disorder you used to have. Past a couple days, the habitual circuitry of mindless eating will start not functioning as well, your stomach will shrink, you won't crave food as much because your appetite is reduced by less intake fueling leptin production...It's all very natural. Just maintain a healthy relationship with food as much as you can, don't go all the way to end up an anorexic/bulimic skelly who can't stand the sight of food.
>>
>>42323762

this is why you gotta start working your core (abs/obliques/serratus) since day 1 lads. Sure most of his pouch is still fat/loose skin, but if you don't do what I mentioned, you'll keep cutting and cutting expecting your love handles to melt, or your lower belly pouch to shed, but it'll be the last thing to go. For people like him (and me) who store fat in their mid section, this should be the wakeup call that this is the area to target with exercise the most you can so you can (not fat spot reduce of course but) develop a muscular outline that'll make it so much more easier to appear leaner even at higher bf% than goal weight. Let this be a warning, I've read through my share of "my love handles/pouch won't go", it's time someone addressed it.

Friendly reminder to everyone here -

1. If you want to achieve efficient, healthy weight loss you WILL need to learn how to cook
2. Eating out, even at the healthiest of establishments, is incredibly difficult/impossible on your most efficient diet
3. You need to read up on your macros (macronutrients) and starting giving them as much attention as you give caloric intake
4. One cheat meal can make you retain a lot of water and stall your weight loss progress. Figure out if that slice of pizza is worth it.
5. You need to do some soul searching and figure out if this is really what you want. A half-assed effort will yield virtually zero result.
6. We're all going to make it.
>>
>>42326153
>A half-assed effort will yield virtually zero result.

Not entirely true, there are some 300lb people here who will lose an astonishing amount of weight at the very start just by eating like 200 calories less than they normally do because their bodies have no idea what's going on

It does get significantly more difficult the lower you go however

If they're 300 pounds, they're probably used to eating over 3,500 calories/day. At 3,300 calories/day, I highly doubt they would lose anything. If they did, it would be incredibly minimal and defeating, and therefor not sustainable.

I see where you're coming from, just making some general observations.

How do people feel about when to take progress pictures? I took mine in January when I was weighing around 181lbs, now I'm around 167lbs with another 20lbs to my first goal weight.

I know there is a change because I can see it and clothes fit differently so I don't see the need go take another until I've got down to 145lbs. I'm more interested to see if my anterior pelvic tilt fixes with weight loss.

Do you prefer to do pictures along the way or only once you've reached your goal?

Also, for people who haven't done pictures and who frequently feel discouraged by not seeing differences in the mirror - I strongly recommend you take pictures. No one has to see them but you and they can help you visualise the change.

I work firefighter duty for the counties largest city, then work EMS for the county, then do ER rotations 20hr weekly
So usually it's two 24hr shifts a week for the fire brigade, three 12 hour shifts for the ambulance corps, and two 10 hour shifts for the emergency department

I can't carry food with me in the ambulance really, and my county is pretty busy. In a typical fire shift I get about 18 calls, and in a typical EMS shift I get 8-12 depending on the weather.
A call usually takes 30-60 minutes
I rarely eat anything from anywhere out-I had McDonalds on Thursday, but I was only able to eat like half of a McDouble because it just didn't taste right. Usually what I do is grab a protein bar from a gas station, but subsiding off of between 400-600kcal in a physical job like this is dangerous to myself, my crews, and the patients. Plus, by not eating sufficiently all I do is just make my body store garbage when I do manage to take in more than 1,000kcal.

I guess meal prep would be the way to go? I got into this state by eating like trash for two years after joining the fire brigade, but damn if I don't feel like a porker. I don't want to be the hypocrite telling overweight patients how bad off they are when I myself don't exactly look the part.

Yeah, 104 hours a week. Sometimes 94. Usually the summer is extra busy, November to May I usually just work 72, two 24s at Fire and two 12s at EMS.
Pretty typical for most paramedics is two jobs. Usually a county EMS or fire service and a private ambulance service or shifts in the ER. I'm fulfilling clinical hours for a different certification right now, and my instructor won't take my Paramedic hours as patient contact hours for some reason.
>>
>>42326606
I mean why would it? You'll weigh less due to the increased water loss but I can't see the lack of AC burning more actual fat. Just because you sweat more doesn't mean you burned more fat. You just lost more water.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong tho.

Can be. Not to get into it because this isn't a /feels/ thread but it also helps me escape.
It's kind of hard to explain-but being on the knifes edge keeps me from having the spastic and sporadic meltdowns outside of work, so to keep the mental anguish away we generally work the the point of near exhaustion, and then work a little bit more, so we can just collapse and sleep when we're done.
Going back to the gyms been helping though. It gives me a healthier outlet then eating or being otherwise lazy.

Plus I like what I do. I love helping people. I like being a Paramedic a lot. It's all I ever wanted to do in life was to help people who needed it most-and I get to do that every day I work.

find your favorite sauce, look up it's aromatic composition (the herbs, spices used), and recreate it by mixing it with equal proportions.
Add vinegar, lime juice if you want to make a no cal marinade for chicken, or use the herb/spice mix replica as is.
Basically just get rid of the oil/sugar base of the sauce, and recreate it in either liquid or solid form.

long sleeves senpai? You shouldn't fuck your shit up wearing long sleeves in the heat though, just wear normal tees and fuck the rest of the world, you're doing something to change. It's not like because you're still fat you should suffer so others don't have to. The intention is good, but literally everyone is only in for themselves so you should be too.

Alright folks, contest is filled up at this time so no more applications for the time being. I'll determine the August brackets on Wednesday and update the document at that point for you all to review. I was toying with the idea of a power bracket for the August 11th bracket match-ups but I may just purge that to keep it uncomplicated.

That aside, everyone who joined recently remember that you're required to weigh-in on Friday or else I gotta give you the boot. No free passes for the first weigh-in, so make sure I get your numbers between 0000 and 2359 CST on Friday, same as the last 4 weeks. If you can't post to the thread, add google drive to your phone and leave a comment on the document which can be found at...

You finally make it to sub 10% bodyfat but now have to deal with loose skin.
A genie appears to give you 1 of the following:

>Free surgery to fix loose skin except nipples and bellybutton look out of place and you have obvious scars from the procedure

or

>Skin it perfectly tight and no stretchmarks except all excess skin has moved to your scrotum, you can never have it removed

Which do you choose?

thank god I never let myself get THAT fat. obviously I have some stretch marks, but the "looser" skin i have only appears if I am pinching hard at a place like my hips, and it looks wrinkly. Doesn't show up any other way.

A week ago, I weighed 118 kg. In the past week, I lost 2 kg, without going overboard at all. Homemade meals for lunch and dinner, light breakfast and a light snack. 1600-2100 kcals a day (except the day work had cake for quarterly recognition). Some very light exercise.

I haven't felt particularly hungry, but a couple of times I had to stop myself from snacking just because I could.

My long-term goal is to get below 90 kg, but in a bit shorter-term, I think I can get under 110 by the end of August. I know I won't be able to keep up a pace of 2 kg weekly, but 2 kg every 10 days ought to be doable while I'm still starting out.
>>
>>42329158
Not sure how to help, losing weight takes a lot of will power and a wanting to lose the fat. I got my determination from just seeing my gut in the mirror after a shower also my 600 lb Life inspired me a bit.

Once you find the will you will rarely have these cravings. Also i think a little self hate goes a long way.

so for the past two weeks I've been doing alternate day fast but in a 2:1 format, so I fat two days, eat normally for 1 then fast 2 days etc etc

does anyone do a similar method? I find 2 days is usually all I can manage with a fast due to social events, office events, and boredom. I stagger it so I stop eating at 4pm, then fast the whole next day and until 4pm the day after that.
>>
>>42329910

>>
>>42329910
Unless you have an absolute self-control, fasting will only make you binge eat.

I lost 39kg already varying between eating only 500kcal, only 1000kcal and fasting for three days.
Usually Friday I go for 2000kcal, then I fast Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Then protein-rich <1000kcal diet.

If you CAN do it, then do it. Not many people manage to handle it.
>>
>>42330238
I don't have any trouble with binge eating anymore, I just have ten more pounds to lose and progress is so slow at this point. Fasting goes pretty well for me if I do it during the work week, because I'm distracted throughout the day.

Does anyone else find themselves starting to be able to manage their "cheating" activities far better?

I fucked up two days ago, but I managed to stick to eating things which, although bad in excess, were not completely awful. I overate cheese and peanut butter. The next day I regretted my actions but was able to move past from that. I had gained about 0.2kg on the scale so I couldn’t have been binging that much because when I've completely fucked up I've shot up by several kilos before. That weight was lost the following day (today).

Makes me not feel like a total fuck-up.

>>
>>42332347
Take care.
>>
>>42332176
Okay

There are three pillars of fitness.
>Diet
Count everything you eat with MFP.
Get a $10 digital food scale and live by it.
Keep it in your bag.
Cook everything you can yourself.
Set a goal for calories, macros and water, keep to it.
>Exercise
Set a routine, and never skip a day.
>Commitment
Don't stop, don't take breaks.
You are doing this for yourself, your future partner and your kids.
Any breaks you take you are stealing time from them.
>>
>>42332347
old man mires are a very accurate as an assessment of making it because they used to live in an era where athleticism was really valued.
Everybody was in top notch shape back then, and thus if by his standards, you awaken an old flame of passion for what he considers physical fitness/your aura or presence as a man, then you've achieved something.
>>
>>42332393
Thanks dude, i am going to follow your advice.
>>
>>42332428
Just remember.

Every day that you skip your diet, that you skip your exercise is a day that fat you wins.

Every day that fat you wins, your wife, your kids and your future self lose at least one.
If you fall off the horse, it's not lost, it's only lose if you give up.
>>
Hey, does anyone here have one of the images floating around about the price of healthy food over the price of junk food?
>>
>>42325812
o what are the best exercises for this?
>>
>>42331807
Luckily you're not too fat to begin with. Calculate your TDEE and subtract 500 to 1,000 calories from that for your daily goal. Of course going to the gym will help too. Once you get to your goal weight or a place where you feel you're skinnyfat then I would start to bulk and lift. Remember you can't gain muscle while cutting, only maintain or lose it and you have to eat a caloric surplus to gain muscle.

Oh and be sure to eat lots of protein, even when cutting so you maintain what muscle you have. But definitely get plenty of protein when you start bulking.
