Joining the army, any ideas for improving entry standard fitness?
Standards to meet:
Press ups 22 in 1min
Sit ups 42 in 1min
1.5mile run in 10minutes
Current:
Press ups i can do 30 or so in one sitting so no worries there
Sit ups I can do 20 in one sitting, ned to improve
1.5mile run i average about 12mins but i do it outside on inclines etc not on a treadmill like the actual test
Any ideas how to improve on these? I'm currently just repeating them eveyr other day but dont really see any improvement

in the finnish marines atm
start bench pressing and dipping if you want to improve your push ups
for sit ups do planks and ab exercises with weights
run instead for 30 to 60 min to improve endurance

Gonna assume you mean push ups. What country is this? These standards are abyssmal, but I guess that's just for entry
Do cardio every day, instead of running only 1.5 miles work on your 3 mile time and make it your goal to get that to below 20 min
The thing is, instead of strength training, you're going to need endurance. I suggest training all of these every day, and while you can time yourself make sure you do much more than just posted here
Don't forget pull ups

Press ups are what they are called in Ireland and the UK
For run times do 30 seconds sprinting and 60 seconds walking. Also you can do 60 seconds sprinting and 120 seconds walking. Repeat until you want to puke. Also hill sprints are good. You can throw in one relaxed distance run a week, but really the intervals are what improve 2 mile times.
For pushups I usually just do bench press and weighted dips.... when it's close to test time I throw in high rep sets of regular pushups.
For situps do weighted cable crunches... kneeling or standing. An ab wheel is good too.
Thanks guys, good advice. Will give it a shot
