Not a meme. I had Hashimoto's hypothyroidism all growing up and even being anorexic and super active I was STILL chubby. I was untreated though. (Didn't find out I had already been diagnosed til I was in my 20's and on the verge of death.) See if she'll go vegan though - I actually started losing weight when I went vegan and even was able to eat more normally. Just avoid oils and processed sugars obviously.

My ex had that too but she wasn't fat. She also didn't even diet or lift, so it's not even close to a legitimate excuse.

Or they weren't being treated. If they're being treated for hypothyroidism and they're on the correct dose of medication (you have to keep checking), then it shouldn't be an issue. But it's pretty easy to be on the wrong dose without knowing because your hormone levels change throughout the day so the time you get tested could be when they dropped, so you get on a low dose when you really need to be on a higher one.

If a patient came to me seeking advise on treating hypothyroidism and that's all they would say, i'd tell them to go home and come back with their DMR so that I knew exactly what they had been diagnosed with since there are over 75 conditions that can result in hypothyroidism and signs, symptoms and treatment can differ greatly.

Most people with hypothyroidism get it treated*. After treatment, their weight should be just as easily managed as anyone's. Most people who claim "thyroid problems" are "self-diagnosed," and only claim to have the condition to justify their weight.
