Anyone have any healthy pre-gym energy meals? Today was my 2nd trip to the gym and I have almost no carbs in my pantry so I had to resort to eating frozen bread and bell peppers.

Alcohol gives me the shits. So that plays into it. Alcohol also dehydrates, so there's water weight. Also, since muscle is more dense than fat, you can lose muscle mass and gain fat, and have the scale not reflect it at all.

Yes. But it will be dangerouly close to unhealthly.

Most people say you shouldn't lose more than 2 lbs a week (excluding water weight). Limit your calories and you'll go down in weight, watch the macros and you'll be able to enjoy the results.

Note that the faster you lose, the more muscle you lose as well. This usually occurs at 1.5 lbs+.

As for an elliptical, that'd be fine too obviously. An exercise bike would be also. You don't have to do something difficult or be dripping with sweat or sore as hell or wanting to die, just start doing something.

People often think walking is useless (I've seen several discussions on /fit/ recently) because everyone walks, but if you actually have a goal in mind when you walk (like distance or step count) it will help you.

2. If you are eating less because you are going to weigh yourself the next day and you are worried about what the scale will say, refer to everything I've just said about crash dieting. If your aren't crash dieting, you have no reason to be worried and no reason to undereat, so if you are hungry just fuckin' eat.

I'm saying that your mindset when it comes to food matters, when you are losing weight. As long as you know your reasons for what your are doing, and you have a plan you can stick to, you'll be fine. There's no reason to stress about a few hundred calories if you are hitting your goals.

The literal essence of life gets boring? m8 water is fucking great. Sure it isn't tasty but once you get used to drinking it then it's not a problem. I used to drink almost nothing but soda and occasionally orange juice or milk. 2 weeks into my diet I realized not drinking enough water was contributing to me keeping on water weight plus I also got sick so I started drinking like 6-8 bottles of water a day and nothing else. Not only did I feel better and start losing weight faster, but I realized I NEVER felt thirsty.

I always thought soda would be the hardest thing for me to give up and ironically it's been one of the easiest. I almost never get a craving for it when I used to constantly. When you're getting all your water intake from soda it doesn't hydrate you well or quench your thirst and makes you crave more. When you drink plenty of water every day your body doesn't crave water so you don't even feel thirsty. It's fucking great.

Depends on your weight.

Sticking with cardio and some basic bodyweight stuff was enough to get me down to 190 from 270 lbs at 5'11". Wish I had started lifting a little bit sooner, but couldn't imagine doing it on the deficit I was running for the entire time.

I progressed it kinda like c25k, increasing work times, decreasing rest, increasing sets, increasing intensity etc.

If you decide to just stick with cardio for now, just keep doing C25K. But if you are making good progress on that program you'd probably be fine starting strength training now.
