>Start doing upright rows because I feel my shoulders more involved doing them
>Come across youtube videos saying they're one of the worst exercises you can do
Are they trying to stop me from making gains? Do any of you guys do them?

They will destroy your rotator cuffs if you do them with a narrow grip. Besides, there are better shoulder exercises anyways.

actually, every fucking beginner does upright rows when they have no idea what to do at the gym
they're like..
>uhh bench
>uhh curls
>uhhh triceps thing
>ohh upright rows
You need to learn to deadlift, squat, overhead press, bench press, weighted dips, weighted chin ups, and heavy ass dumbbell rows.
The only shoulder exercises I do are OHP, Lateral Raises, Facepulls and Dumbell Press. Those types of rows can possible lead to injury if done wrong.
find a decent weightlifting coach and start doing cleans instead

>implying some fuckhead defending upright rows could ever be a competent lifter who knows how progress in cleans
OP is the type of shit that quartersquats thinking he's squatting parallel because he doesn't understand how angles work with mirrors

Yes, you actually need to learn proper form for all 3 you fucking retard
>>42209235
depends on your shoulder anatomy desu, some people can get away with upright rows and some people snap their shit up or feel discomfort doing them
if you don't feel comfortable doing them, just do lateral raises and rear delt raises instead, they cover pretty much everything with the exception of less trap activation

they are pretty great but one arm db upright row is even better
