I'm not sleeping late. I was an insomniac and once I started lifting been sleeping at 10PM sharp. I always wake up at 3AM when I used to get 12+ hours of sleep.

Sleep hygiene is basically the ideal environment you sleep in. The best you can do, and other people can feel free to correct me on this, is to sleep on your back in a comfortable position without any noise/light in the room. Completely dark and cool. Even small things like falling asleep to a youtube video can mess with how your body recovers during the night.

slightly off topic, but how much does sleep affect gains? does less sleep make recovery slower, or does it make you loose some gains? I ussualy get ~8-9hrs of sleep, but still sometimes get 5-7
