Something I noticed is the best punchers in boxing have tremendous upper back devolepement. Is this cus that area of muscle that translates the most into KO power?

Punching Power generates from the kinetic chain, using your whole body from legs to hips even to your elbows. All good Boxers (should) have tremendous upper back development because it's what actually gonna save you from GETTING knocked out. Search for a boxers neck and trap workout and it's gonna be more than what you do in a week.
Deontay wilder a perfect example of this... his body is puny except for his back and shoulders, and he knocks out people DEAD

No muscle work alone to deliver a good punch. It's a full body movement.
You won't be a better puncher by having a bigger upper back. You will be a better puncher by punching.
KO isn't just about ""raw power"". Timing and speed are equally important

Funny side note: few days ago I caught a superman punch right to the face while in a 2vs1 and did not even feel a slight discomfort. I thank rack pulls and 1min neck bridges
Is there any test like the standing vertical jump, but for upper body explosiveness?

You use tour back and triceos in boxing the most

Punching power, I guess.

it's the boxing defense stance, shoulders up and forward, contracts the traps, makes it look big, they're not specifically working their upper back m8
