Biking takes less energy because of the mechanical advantage. Plus the muscle groups and stresses are different

Your pace is too fast, and you wear your untrained muscles/lungs out.

Slow down your pace. I am a 215 lb fatty and I can run 9 miles at a 9:30 min/mile pace without stopping. I can only run about 3.5 miles at a 8 min/mile pace before i need to stop. Pace is everything.
