I had an umbilical hernia for about 7 years and trained the whole time with it. Squatted and deadlifted in the 500s too.

I got it fixed about a month ago because I figured it can't be good having it but it never bothered me

Yeah but you still run the chance of having your internal organs spill past that muscle wall. Knew a trainer who had a high school kid get a hernia around his testicles. His intestines had pushed into his scrotom and every time he shit he could feel it pass by his balls. He was to embarrassed to tell his mother so he let the problem get awful before seeking help.
