Normies are less intimidated by a machine. They also think its more high tech and fancy which translates to better gains in their mind. My gym has 4 power racks, 5 diddle platforms, 6 flat benches, 2 incline and decline, 2 seated shoulder press racks. The rest are all machines or cables so the normies stay the fuck out of the way for the most part. Almost never have a problem getting a power rack/diddle platform.
