Hi /fit/
The current gym I lift costs $400 per year. It has everything I need, it's a decent size, etc. It's a 1 off old-school gym owned by 1 guy. There's no fees, no contracts, NOTHING, just $400/year.
>The issue:
I'm moving and found out all the gyms in the new area I am moving to cost $1000+ minimum per yer, the gyms are all franchise gyms, and they have additional fees/costs on-top of the $1000+ per year membership.
Why the hell are the franchise gyms so expensive? I'm in Australia btw.

maybe you should think about buying your own equipment, you wont need more than 800$
btw, my gym costs 80$ per year, and its quite decent, has even eleiko plates (though only 20s)

Yeah if all you care about doing is the same 4 lifts over and over and over and over and over.
I got bored of that shit years ago, I like the variety of plate loaded machines, cable machines, dumbbells. I don't just want to go back to lifting with ONLY STRICTLY barbells again doing Squats/Deads/Bench/Press/Rows, fuck that shit nigga.

you have a point there, but for 800 bucks you can easily buy a power cage, a bench, a barbell, a lot of dumbbells, a rubber boat for rowing and a nice universal cable machine addition for your powercage.
