Brass knuckles are banned and knives have strict regulations based on where you live. Although a good alternative might be to buy some plastic knuckle guards. You can buy them for 2 or 3 fingers and they're technically not brass knuckles so you shouldn't get in big trouble for carrying them.

Something to keep in mind is that pulling out a knife or brass knuckle's escalates any altercation you happen to be in. They'll get you in a lot of trouble, and might just get you killed if you pull them on the wrong person. Just take some boxing or some sort of legit self defense class and leave it at that.
