How much weight is /fit/ referring to when they say "1pl8"?

1pl8 refers to a 45lb plate on each side of a 45lb bar.

25kg and 35kg = 55 and 77 pounds for the burgers btw.

1 45 lb plates on each side of the bar so 45 + 45 + 45 for the bar = 135 lbs

45's are the most common, but a good gym will have more equipment. My gym is rather large and has an assortment of plates in both kgs and lbs. The kg plates go up to 50 kgs.

It's just the standard that everyone has gotten used to. There's no reason for gyms to get heavier ones in most cases because people don't lift enough to warrant them. Why buy a 55lb plate when you can just add a 10lb plate to each side?

american gyms have 10, 25, 35, 45, and 100 pound plates for leg press. Pretty common in my experience, i've been to gyms in SC, AK, FL, CA and..Nevada, not sure of that states abbreviation but all of them had the plate sizes i listed.

3 plate = 315 lbs
4 plate = 405 lbs

These weights all include the weight of the bar.
