How do I activate my lats and overall back better during rowing and vertical pulling movements. Am I not getting full range of motion with my long monkey arms? Pic not me but goals kinda.

If you use good form and get stronger on these movents your back will grow, lowering the weight so you can do these exercises properly may hurt your ego but just deal with it

Not sure what good form is. Tried using thumbless grip and starting with scapular retraction to initiate pull. Is there any other tips I should know about.

Mind-muscle connection is a meme
If you progresively get stronger rowing and doing pull ups with correct form your back will grow worying about your lats activating properly when you row is a good way to waste time

Heavy Rackpulls, pullupps and rows Will get you this back:

Throw in highrep shrugs and lats for mass.

When working back, use straps on everything so you don't waste energy on gripping. This also allows you to concentrate on the form and overloading each part of the back. I really noticed a difference when I started doing Slow negatives on everything too.
>>
Dead hang pull ups. If you can't crank out proper dead hang pull ups why ate you using a barbell? Lmao
>>
>>42094034
Thanks for the tip. Do you pause at the top as well
>>42094041
I can dead hang weighted. Just because you can do a movement doesn't mean you're "activating" muscles to the fullest. Lmao
>>
>>42094059
Considering 1/2 of a pull ups movement is lat activation.... what's the problem?

Pause might be necessary to really get yourself to squeeze and get full contraction every rep but it certainly makes it a lot harder if it's more than just a half a second. I don't really pause on anything though, just the slow negative is what I've been focusing on the last year or so.

Do you do any close grip chin ups? Read what Dorian Yates has to say about proper lat activation and the myth of wide grip pull ups and rows.
