Can we talk about Reps during Sets. I have two questions.
1. How many reps should I be doing if I want to get my arms bigger?
2. Also, how fast should I be lifting exactly?
I've read on several sites that the rep range should be 8-12 for hypertrophy.
Does speed greatly impact gains or is form the ultimate decider. I mean...I see people swinging their dumbbells, which I figure would lead to injury at some point, but they also have massive arms so I can't help but think that they must be doing something correctly.
1-5
slow.
fast=more risk of injury and less time spent stretching the muscle
slow=less likely of injury more time stretching the muscle
But if you are going to do them with crap form don't even do them
8-12 is the magic number due to the concept of time under tension. If you go slow enough then 6 could do, but if you go really fast 15+ may be needed.
As for the amount of time aim for each set to take about 45 seconds.

Can go anything between 18-30 total reps, 3-5 times a week. Smart use of different weights/setsxreps and exercises is a good way to achieve big arms. Not so much for doing it slowly just focus engaging the muscle.
