Does anyone on /fit/ work graveyard shift as well? If so, how do you deal with it?
>Can't sleep well during the day due to light/noise/heat
>Always tired as shit after work so I just want to go home instead of buying food to cook
>Attempt to sleep, but it's never a deep sleep and I wake up feeling just as shit
>Barely able to function during the small time period I'm up before work
>All motivation to workout is gone, can't keep a schedule
>Can't even do gains killing cardio because body is so sleep deprived
How the fuck do people deal with this? Granted there was a short period where the weather wasn't so bad so I could sleep during the day, but now that it's summer it just feels like my body is both physically and mentally exhausted 24/7.

Maybe you should see a doctor, it seems like you have a sleep problem. Also I think you can get tired and stuff if your body isn't exposed enough to the daylight.
Sounds like you need to take some vitamin D?
>tfw you escaped the living hell that is nightfill

Sleep in a completely dark air conditioned room, wear ear plugs if there is too much noise. I also sleep like shit if there is light or noise or Sth. I did some graveyard shifts a while back and just completely blocked all my windows with alluminum foil and tape so I could have some darkness in my room. Worked wonders.
Also keep the same schedule week round, you will only adjust to it if you keep consistent.

Never knew the part about not receiving enough daylight.

I'll give this a try.

I'll be off soon I hope. I'll try talking to my boss today, he's been off the last few days so I haven't had the chance to ask about other positions to switch to.

I would but the issue is I don't have A/C where I live now. I'm planning to get a portable unit soon but until then I've had to leave the window open just a bit to let air in. It's a compromise because I can have a dark, but incredibly hot room or a light, but slightly less incredibly hot room. Either way I'm walking up in sweats.

I've worked nights for 5 years. Get blackout curtains; they work miracles.
Build an air conditioned coffin to sleep in.

I am similar as you
>be on 40 hours workweek with two rotating shifts on each week
>first shift is ez as fug, 3 pm to 11:30 pm
>even if its hard work, effortlessly glide through it
>never have problems sleeping
>other shift starts from 6:30 to 15:00 though
>always fail
>sleep deprivation builds up
>always a horrible nightmare
with the other shift I also can do additional sports without problems, but whomever invented the "Wake up really early for work" should be fucking shot. I would rather have a midday shift every day, so much more easier to deal with.
