Then again, if nobody is richer then how is supply and demand going to regulate the market? Are we all just going to become equally poor? And if it works the other way around and we all become decently wealthy, what about overpopulation? We can barely sustain 7 billion, let alone 10 or 20.

That is demonstrably false. The reason there is plenty of food in developed countries is due to agricultural advancements driven by capitalism.

Food surpluses don't make it to places where food is scarced in other countries is due to prohibitive costs. It costs alot of resources to move resources. Farms and transpo companies would go under operating under such a loss long term.

People need to learn to improve their own situations long term, any other shortcut does more harm than good.

You're right that businesses support warlords to get resources, but the underlying reasons for conflict are internal not external. Usually they are ethnic/sectarian.

So the war is fuelled from the outside, but it's not as if there would be abundance and peace without resource exploitation. There would be fewer weapons (and less money) in the Congo, but the conflict wouldn't go away, and infrastructure development would be worse probably. The thing that unites unsuccessful African countries is not their resource richness, the involvement of foreign powers or colonial oppression. It's corruption, sectarian conflict and extremely low productivity. They're African problems.

There are genuine operations that can really help and are worthy of donation.

That and also the constant subsidizing of the agricultural industry in countries where they can't be expected to continue indefinitely. The US is a huge example of this. Some effects of this include an agricultural industry that is woefully inefficient, produces completely unnecessary products in egregiously wasteful quantities, and a lack of ability of less developed countries to specialize in the area that they would and should be able to without this tendency for governments to keep the dinosaur of developed national agriculture alive.

Honestly, it makes no sense to me why we keep subsidizing something like that with no return. We shell out more in foreign aid than we would lose without that sector of the economy, and other countries would gain considerably more without having to receive continual aid. They would improve tremendously just by accepting the chance to actually contribute to the world economy in an appropriate manner instead of having other countries put up unnecessary subsidies to an economic sector that should have either evolved or died out long ago.
