Is it bad that im a healthy 18 year old 153 lbs 5'9" male that cant do a single pull-up?
>>
>>42064235
well your father look at you and think he should have pulled out
>>
Yes

I'm a healthy 18 year old 163 lbs 6'3" male and I can do 7 in a row
>>
>>42064267

I have unironically never seen a barbell in my life. My uni """"gym"""" only has dumbbells that go up to 15kgs and some treadmills
I blame women
>>
>>42064235
try chin ups you might find them easier. Also alot of people cnt do them when untrained you are nothing special OP.
>>
Underhand or overhand?
>>
>>42064235
Yes that is very bad. I could do 3 at 5'10" and 230 lbs without having done them before. Get to work.
>>
>>42064235
How can you not do a chinup/pullup when you're so lightweight? Did you always skip PE or something?

whatever type this is
>>
OP this is probably do due to lack of protein in ur diet so ur muscles never fully developed to where they should be. Its quite commonm, if you start training you will be doing them by the first month or so.
>>
>>42064267

>6'3
>163 lbs

Holy king of the lanklets
>>
>>42064324
Clearly overhand
>>
>>42064235

Up until 2 years ago I was in my thirties and couldn't do any.

Now I'm 33 and doing multiple sets in the double digits. You just have to work on them. It takes time, but it's worth it. I have visible lats for the first time in my life.
>>
>>42064324
keep trying

i can only do 10 pull ups
>>
>>42064328
i sense you are just memeing.
>>
>>42064329
Gaining weight is hard
>>
>healthy
>can't do a single pull-up
ooooookay
>>
>>42064346
healthy as in like no diseases or deficiencies. if weak as fuck is considered unhealthy, I guess I'm unhealthy
>>
>>42064235
i'm 18 5'7 135 lbs and can't do any either but i'm really lazy and weak so..
>>
>>42064235
yes. most Gyms will have a weighted assisted pullup/chinup/dip station. Use that shit until you can do men exercises.
>>
>>42064283
Most untrained people can't do them at first. Find a way to do body rows. Progress from
>knees bent & apart
>knees bent & together
>knees half-bent & apart
>knees half-bent & together
>legs straight & apart
>legs straight & together
>legs elevated
Eventually you'll be able to do a chin up. From there start greasing the groove.

Also start training your forearms with
>wrist curls (flexion & extension)
>hammer curls
>wrist roller

Brachioradialis is often a limiting factor.
>>
>>42064418
Why is that? Even when I first started lifting as a skinnyfat DYEL I could pretty handily do 10 overhand pull ups and chin ups. Find them a bit harder now but I assume that's because I'm quite a bit heavier and my weight/muscle mass is more balanced across my body
>>
>>42064459
A lot of people are too heavy for them at first, but I was pretty small when I couldn't do them (about 135lbs at 5'7). Modern humans have weak af backs compared to out ancestors who spent a lot of time climbing. People now have proportionally larger chests and front delts from typing, driving cars, and using cell phones. "Backbreaking work" wasn't something I experienced as a coddled suburbanite. Maybe you had a little more manual labor or sports as a child?
>>
Do negatives, it helps alot
>>
>>42064235
im 21 200lb 6'0" male and do 3 sets of 6 a day, max in one set is about 12.

once you get the first pullup it feels so easy, its all about the feel, if you have never done one you wont know how to pull.
>>
>>42064338
You should try eating
>>
Yes

I'm 153 and 5'9 and I can do 20 in a row.

Git gud
>>
>>42064324
these are harder if you don't have back strength (particularly in your lats). also grip width can fuck you up here. try chin ups instead. they're "easier" in that they rely more on your bicep strength

You should practice doing them assisted and then work up to unassisted. When I first started a program with chinups I failed to get five reps with 60 lbs of assistance (my height and weight are pretty close to yours). I finally hit 5 reps unassisted on Tuesday.
>>
>>42065383
Doing descends/negatives is far better than an assisted machine
>>
>>42064235
i can do 10 now after two months, started at a pathetic half push up. keep trying. even if you can't do one, try multiple times a day. once you get the first one and keep it up, you'll start getting more much easier. it takes time and effort but you need to push yourself because you'll feel amazing afterwards.
Don't feel bad OP.
>>
>>42064235
You've got your whole life ahead of you to get strong. 18 is a prime time to start. I could barely bench 135 lbs one time by the time I was 18 and 6' ~175 and neither feat is very impressive, but it's a constant stream of winning short battles, not one day waking up and saying you can do x pull ups.
>>
>>42064235
How bout 3 years younger and weighing 20 lbs more?
>>
>tfw been 187cm lean faggot for the last five years
>bodyweight stumbles between 60-65kg, never going upper or lower
>been utilising my thinspo and drowning in pussy, but still wanting to improve myself for the upcoming race war
>job includes high amounts of cardio and free swimming pool membership, but even sitting home for a long time with little to no activity didn't made me gain weight
>tapeworm analisys came back negative
I've decided to wrestle my metabolism, so far managed to go from my lowest weight bar to the highest in month; never been eating so much in my entire life. Dug out a couple of dumbbells, thinking of setting up a homegym.
Any advices for a newfag? What should I watch out for?

>>
>>42064235
It's only bad if it's still the same in a year.

If you realize your problem, and implement a solution with discipline, there's never anything to be ashamed of.

Best advice I ever got "if you don't worry about looking good in the gym (lifting bitch weight) you will end up looking a lot better outside the gym"
>>

Yikes. 5'10 195 recovering fat ass and I can already do 5 solid
