I lived with Kenyan maasai for 5 months working on a water project, your average for height is way off; I was significantly taller than most people, at 6'2". However, their traditional diets have (for a variety of reasons) been largely abandoned in favor of poverty food, so maybe they were taller in the past when they had better nutrition. I think there's Tanzanian maasai with more intact traditional lifestyles though, so I'd be curious if there's any data on that group specifically

I realize nobody else is in this thread at this point, but fuck it OP has reignited my interest. There's actually been some study conducted on maasai that suggested genetic factors protecting them from hypercholesteremia. I forget the details but basically they took 2 groups and fed them the same thing, but with one group consuming 2000mg more cholesterol. They measured blood and fecal samples and found that both groups had the same levels of total cholesterol in their blood at the end. So, their diet would not necessarily be safe for an average European.

I think this is interesting because it challenges the common practice of formulating a "healthy diet" for yourself without giving any thought to your genetics. Obviously people are going to be aware of whether or not they have the LCT gene producing lactase, but if there's this group of african pastoralists with a protein associated with low cholesterol I'm sure there are other mutations in certain segments of the population that play a significant role on effectiveness of various dietary practices.
