I know it's the standard for S&C coaches to have. You don't really need any pre-requisites but you will have to show that you have at least a bachelor's degree. I have friends that have done it and said it was a really easy test. We're in sports medicine already though so everyone might not have the same experience.

thanks for the reply

I have a degree in neurobiology so I'm sure I would have to study up a bit

I'm also /fit/ and played sports in hs, lift regularly, etc

im also a yoga instructor and we talked a bit about exercise science and anatomy if that counts for anything lol

seems like it would be a great option for anything personal training, coaching, or fitness related

and its just a test so it seems low commitment

Biggest commitment is the payment, something like 300 bucks plus books if you want to test prep. Anyone will be interested in a personal trainer with CSCS vs ACSM or NASM CPT. I haven't looked at the material for a while now but I remember it being heavy on periodization and specific nutrition recommendations.

It's not a super difficult test if you have a relevant degree, however it can be difficult if you lift/are active in online communities like /fit/ because you have to answer the questions how they're laid out in the text, even if you might know from experience that it's the wrong answer. It can seem a bit counter intuitive at times. But ya, it's a good cert to have. It automatically puts you above anyone with just a regular personal training certification, and is basically a requirement for a lot of fitness related jobs.
>its just a test so it seems low commitment
Just remember that it's somewhere around $400 to take, so that's a decent commitment in my mind at least. Make sure you study well beforehand, you won't know the answers just by being a neurobio major and lifting in your spare time
