I think I might have slipped a disk in my lower spine, how long does sciatica last (generally)?

just give it to me, I don't want to miss a bunch of days

I had mild sciatica for half a year after being stupid on a lift, lifted carefully with a bit reduced weight on lower body lifts during that time and then it went away. Point is, YMMV.

I have a prolapsed disc. Have had sciatica for 8 years. I still squat/deadlift.
If it's still an issue in a couple weeks see a reputable physiotherapist. Do not see a chiropractor- they use brute force to manipulate your skeleton which is a complete dice roll for complicated injuries

Just see a doctor. /fit/ is not gonna fix your spine. Lifelong back pain is not some shit to fuck around with
>>41921976
Let me guess, you injured your back while diddylifting or sqwating?

forever

yup. you cannot heal a "slipped" disc. The stages are irreversible, don't believe chirpractors and other shamans
This is generally everything medicine can offer you:

L5/S1 herniation here. The nerve pain in my leg is still there everyday, and it's coming up on half a year now. Doc told me, "it could heal itself in a few weeks, a few months, or a few years." Big help. Followed the advice to forego lifting for about 2-3 months, then realized it wasn't getting any better and that I was just going to waste away and lose all my progress at that rate. Now I'm back in the gym at full intensity, making gains, and just being careful not to aggravate it. It's still there, but I just deal with it now. It may never heal, but that's not going to stop me from reaching my goals. If I had gone on listening to the doc, I'd still be out of the gym now, still in pain, and I'd have lost all my gains.

Wrong. The symptoms can usually be mitigated or even go away by themselves. Strengthening the back (correctly) is very important for this.

Did you even watch your own video? True, it doesn't heal, but the symptoms can absolutely be mitigated or go away.
>>41923650
Have you done this?

I slipped a disc last week, it looks like neither of us are deadlifting again this year buddy. 3-6 months at least of recovery and rehab is what I have to look forward to
I'm especially pissed because I was only really strength training so i could lift up girls at summer festivals and now i can't carry a backpack
>>41923604
Thanks for that video, I needed that.
>>41923677
Lol. Thats destinys way of saying "contemplate your motivations fugboi". You dont deserve to be deadliftin
>>41923828
Yeah it wasn't my original motivation but it just crept into my thoughts more and more. Not even disagreeing with you desu
>>41923671
that blog is absolute total bullshit.
You don't heal a herniatd disc by doing repetitive flexion movements like deadlifting with a broomstick. That's how you get them in the first place
