>Phase 3 is also often where people often need to begin micro-load their pressing movements and cleans, adding weight in 2.5lb or smaller increments to continue linear progress.
Wtf /fit/. I'm in Phase 1, just finishing up week 2. My squat was making 10 lb jumps for a while, but I just started doing 5 lb jumps. Deadlift is still making 10 lb jumps. Bench is making 5 lb jumps. But I am already stalling on the press.
I did the first day test Rippetoe recommends to find your starting weight and arrived at 85 lbs for the press. I had been lifting prior to starting SS, so my starting points are a little off, but whatever. The next press day, I made it through the first two sets at 80, but failed the final rep of the final set. I reset to 75 and hit that okay, then today tried 80 again and failed the last rep again. How the fuck am I already stalling this early? I bought some microplates, because I heard those are helpful for breaking through OHP plateaus, but according to the SS site I shouldn't even need them until several months from now.
Anybody else struggling horribly with OHP?

I'm eating plenty.
Help
OHP is a nigger and a half. It's always the first place people stall. Drop the weight and focus on doing more reps with strict form. Micro plates aren't a bad idea either. You probably just started too high you should be able to get to 115 OHP before it gets to be a real asshole.

How far down should I deload? Rep scheme?
