Just FYI to rabbit noobs if anyone has/wants one as a pet, but carrots are basically the equivalent of chocolate to them and hold no nutritional value. Their diet should be mostly hay/greens

Legumes, nuts, pasta, rice, seitan, pb, all kinds of fruit and vegetables, vegan protein powder if needed. Then if you dont mind soy, tofu and fake meats. You can try eating vegan for a day and see if you like it, guarantee you wont look back
>>
>>41888681
Could you give an example of a day of vegan eating with 35%+ calories from protein?

former vegan because i fucked my entire body up doing so. Didn't take protein into account or B12, was malnourished and looked skelly. I blame myself more than anything but I'd never go back to being vegan even knowing what I know now.
>>
>>41888764
Ill try. For breakfast you can eat oatmeal with peanut butter, soy milk (or any milk you have), berries and vegan protein powder (optional). Lunch you can get rice or pasta, then tofu or seitan with some kind of beans (countless recipes on the internet), then some veggies and fruit. Dinner you can have some fake meats (optional) or tofu/seitan (depending on what you ate for lunch) with red lentils or chickpeas, veggies and fruits. Then before bed some nuts. This is easily 150+ g of protein, adjust your calories and macros as needed (bulking or cutting)

with some tweaking I got it to 170g of protein. Trouble is, most of the protein is coming from seitan, and there's literally nowhere I can buy it other than online, and it's outrageously expensive.

>>
>>41888985
Weird. I always found seitan and I live in the middle of nowhere. You can also do it yourself, there are some recipes online. Also, why do you need that much proteins? Im 6'2, 185 lbs lean and this past winter Ive been bulking and making progress just fine with around 120 g of proteins (doable without seitan). I know you might be cutting but regardless you shouldnt need that much proteins. Maybe try some vegan protein powder, they re pretty cheap
>>
>>41888985
>500 g broccoli
I only do that after a night with a lot of calories from alcohol and soda, holy shit please don't do that daily unless you are bulimic
I'd rather starve than eat half a kg of broccoli
You can make seitan from vital wheat gluten, look it up on amazon

I've been a vegetarian for over a year, but I couldn't justify ever going vegan. It may sound silly but I don't think a person can ever fully claim to be vegan, since animal products are fucking everywhere in our society.

As far as eating goes, I rarely consume animal products, and i don't eat any meat or fish. The few things I do consume are milk and cheese, and products that /might/ have animal products (for instance chocolate or cake). I don't check mainly because I know by not eating meat I'm still reducing animal suffering.
>>
>>41889184
It's half a kilo of frozen broccoli, i've been doing it daily easy. It's like half a bag, boil it up nice and good so it's almost a mash.
>>
>>41888764
its not about % of calories its about the total grams. UNLESS! you are cutting hard
>>
>>41889198
Thats still more than most people do. Keep it up. Maybe try to buy plant based milks, as for cheese Id suggest vegan cheese from Follow your heart and Chao. Theyre so good. Chocolate is usually vegan thankfully
>>
>>41889198
What >>41889285 said. You are indeed far, far better than average. If you want to improve more, there are so many plant milk alternatives, that one has got to suit your tastes :) I found milk and cheese the easiest to substitute, then came chicken. Beef and pork, as well as eggs, are a lot harder to emulate.
>>
Vegan here, also never post on any vegan threads because most of them are cancer. Not gonna change anyone's mind by calling people out for eating animal products.

Lead by example and don't be a douche. Make your friends and family good tasting vegan recipes and show them its not hard to switch. I switched because it is cheaper, and you can have just as much complete protein in your diet.

Also my realization was that the little mouth pleasure I got from eating animal products wasn't worth the energy cost that goes into it (lol environment) or the way it made my stomach feel after I was done. Give it a try if you are curious, don't if you aren't. Simple as that. All I know is that my stomach problems are gone and I have way more energy in the gym now.

Yea, I truly do feel that I try to avoid animals products, but I don't think I like the label of vegan too much as it doesn't make sense to me. I have huge respect for people who try their best to not consume any animal products.

As far as keeping it up I don't see myself ever going back to meat. I'm grossed out just thinking about what people are actually eating (I'm from a family of meat eaters, so I see it pretty often). Besides, if I do crave the taste of it, there are also vegan alternatives. They taste fine and don't cause any suffering. Thanks for the support anyway anon, I assumed that vegans would jump down my throat for my post x)

Not trying to get up in your grill or anything, but how do you vegans eat things you enjoy? You can't use meat or fish, you can't use honey, you can't use bouillon, you can't use gelatin, you can't use milk, you can't use cheese, you can't use eggs and there probably some spices and herbs you're not allowed to use for some reason. You're depriving yourself of so many recipes, so how do you how do you make meals that aren't just rabbit food?

Genuinely curious, I'm considering eating vegan once a week so I need some recipes to make vegan food palpable.

Eh, not a vegan but I've been vegetarian for over a year now. For me personally I was always a fussy eater, so eating a very 'scheduled' diet was fine by me. As far as others go, I believe all the foods you mentioned all have vegan alternatives (vegan milk, chicken, fish, spices etc).

For me personally I also value animals lives more than my own taste buds, and a lot of food that doesn't require any animal products taste great.

If you're looking to go vegan / vegetarian I think a lot of people choose this life style for moral reasons rather than the health benefits that come along with a vegan diet. If you're interested, check out some documentaries like cowspiracy.

Lastly, good luck!
>>
>>41889475
Thought the same before making the switch. Turns out vegan food can be delicious just as much as normal food. Take tofu for example: barely if ever used by your average non-vegan, yet its so versatile you can use it pretty much everywhere
>>
>>41889475
>how do you vegans eat things you enjoy?
Anon, if one is to understand the great mystery, one must study all its aspects, not just the dogmatic, narrow view of the meat eaters. If you are to become a complete and wise cook you must embrace a larger view of the plant foods.
>You can't use meat
Seitan, tofu, tempeh, mushrooms and the right cooking techniques
BBQ sauce, liquid smoke, paprika, thyme, rosemary help a lot
>or fish
That's trickier but there are ways to incorporate seafood flavour to your dish such as nori leaves and some sauces I can't name off the top of my head but I assure you can be found in one minute of googling
>you can't use honey
Maple syrup, applesauce, sugar, stevia. Cinnamon, clove for taste
>you can't use bouillon
Vegetable bouillon works just as well
>you can't use gelatin
There are other thickening agents. Again, can't name them off the top of my head but they are easy to google. Fun fact: gelatin is literally the only food item with an incomplete amino acid profile, it doesn't have tryptophan. Even avocados and oranges have more!
>you can't use milk
There are non dairy milks, waiting for you to give them just a chance!
> you can't use cheese
Nutritional yeast, cashew and coconut oil cheeses are all out there. Don't try to look for differences with the particular cheese you're used to. Just like Gouda is different from mozzarella, dairy mozzarella is different from nut mozzarella. Different ≠ worse, taste is a matter of habit. Give it a try!
>you can't use eggs
Tofu scramble, vegannaise and in some recipes you can substitute them for other stuff that works as an *emulsifier*
>and there probably some spices and herbs you're not allowed to use for some reason.
None that I know of, we're good in that area.

>You're depriving yourself of so many recipes, so how do you how do you make meals that aren't just rabbit food?
We have to adapt and expand our cooking knowledge. Honestly, if you know your way around a kitchen, there is little to learn to veganize your cuisine
>Genuinely curious, I'm considering eating vegan once a week so I need some recipes to make vegan food palpable.
Fucking awesome!
Easy substitutions:
Dairy milk - plant milk. Seriously, there are tons. Try cashew, soy, almond, oat, rice, coconut, there should be one you enjoy. Soy milk tastes like the leftover dairy milk at the bottom of the bowl after you have eaten the whole bran flakes that were in.
Vegan BnJ - I swear this is indistinguishable from dairy BnJ
Veganaise - you'll not believe it's not mayonnaise
>Recipes
Literally Google the first recipe that you think of and plug in front the v word
Just do it for curiosity's sake
>Vegan general Tso's chicken recipe (tofu)
>Vegan curry recipe (chickpea)
>Vegan chilli recipe (beans and corn)
>Vegan ribs recipe (seitan)
>Vegan pulled pork burger recipe (jackfruit)
>Vegan sloppy Joe's recipe
>Vegan chicken wings recipe (cauliflower, tofu)
>Vegan pizza recipe
>Vegan scramble recipe

You get the idea.
Vegan "exclusive" recipes exist too! Bean soup, lentil soup, chickpea soup, falafel (chickpea "burger nuggets"), hummus, spanakopita (spinach pie)

>Vegan chicken wings recipe (cauliflower)

This is the dumbest, most unsatisfying bullshit, and it literally only works if you haven't eaten chicken in a decade. The tofu version is also disappointing, but at least it's chewy.

>Vegan "exclusive" recipes exist too!

Instead of abusing scare quotes, just acknowledge that you only know of two traditionally vegan foods.

>bean soup, lentil soup, chickpea soup

These contain smoked meat and/or meat broth.

>falafel, hummus

Congratulations, that's vegan.

>spanakopita

This has cheese in it.
>>
>>41890857
>>bean soup, lentil soup, chickpea soup
>These contain smoked meat and/or meat broth.
None of these contain any animal products whatsoever
>Spanakopita has cheese
No, that is 100% false. Spanakotiropita has cheese.
Spanaki = spinach
Tiri = cheese
Pita = pie

Source for the soups and spanakopita: am Greek and also spent 24 years in a meat eating household. We literally never use meat in legume soups.

Why are you so mad that vegan food exists?

Non-vegans voting or not voting "nah" has no effect on the results of how many vegans there are
>>
>>41891045
>None of these contain any animal products whatsoever

Sure they do. Chicken broth. Ham hocks. You can leave those out if you don't care about flavor, but you can't claim they're atraditional.

>semantics bullshit

Spanakopita has cheese in it. You don't have to specify cheese in the name, same as you don't have to specify that a pizza has cheese.

>Why are you so mad that vegan food exists?

I love many vegan foods, like tabbouleh, misir wot and ratatouille. What I hate is dipshits like you who pretend that your vegan imitations of normal food are the real thing.
>>
>>41891587
>If I repeat it enough times it will be true!
>Grow, grow, grow
Whine and hit your butt on the floor all you want, spanakopita by definition must have no cheese whatsoever, it's in the name. Spanakotiropita is the cheese version.
Same with the soups. Spaghetti can be served with minced meat and cheese. That doesn't mean spaghetti requires minced meat and cheese. Spaghetti is vegan. Chickpea soup is vegan. Using meat stock is for pussies
>Wah wah mommy chickpeas are yucky
>Okay Bobby, mommy will put some of yesterday's bone broth inside
