What shoes does /fit/ recommend for general gyming? I can't

And while we're on the topic of footwear, how does /fit/ feel about lifting in their socks? I don't care what anyone else does at the gym, because why would you, but whenever I see it I think, "I wouldn't do that, my feet are sweaty and I wouldn't want to slip."

it depends, if the floor is wood planks then yeah you have a chance of slipping
if it's all rubber then no way you'll slip.

chucks or oly shoes (i wear wei rui's, they're $200 cheaper than the romaleos and about as good, but they can sound like you're walking in clogs if you walk on marble or hard wood floors)

used to lift in oly shoes, switched to wrestling shoes. Anything with a solid sole works great, go for chucks if you're low on cash.
