Too much eggs are bad for your cholesterol levels. What are some other easy to make and cheap meals that contain a lot of protein?

No they're not.

>>
>>41858362
i'm asking for what you do, not google
>>
>>41858321

You need

1 large pot
A few litres of milk
A large jar
A sample of yoghurt for the culture
A t shirt to strain it

Heat the milk on a low setting for about 45 minutes to pasteurise it then wait for it to cool until it's not unbearable to dip your finger in it.
After that you put in a tablespoon or two of yoghurt sample, mix it and place it in the jar to set overnight.
After its set pour the product into the tshirt over a strainer and leave it for another 12-18 hours in the fridge to strain

Then enjoy your Greek yoghurt. It's a long process so you gotta make a lot to make it worthwhile. Adding powdered milk to the mix while it's boiling makes a thicker product
>>
OP here, did some research after you guys told me eggs weren't bad for your cholesterol. Well all these studies claim that eating 1 egg a day is ok but eating more increases the risks of a stroke or hearthfailure.

Am I missing something?
>>
>>41858399
>Oh fuck, my hearth
>>
>>41858397
Could you then use the yogurt you made as the sample culture for making more yogurt?

Not him but here's what I do.

Heat up milk to repasteurize. Don't let it boil. Stir to prevent burnt coating on bottom of pan. Reduce heat until milk is slightly more than body temperature. Add like 1 cup yogurt. Stir. Set in a cool dark place with a lid. Do not let it move in any way or yogurt will not set properly. Temperature will determine flavor of yogurt. Warmer=more sour.

After 12 hrs should have some yogurt. Put in fridge for a few days without touching it so it finishes firming up.

You know what actually kills people? Being fat and diabetic. Eggs aren't going to do that, and neither are beans. Eat whatever the fuck you want.
>>
>>41859466

So what you're saying there was a scientific basis for it in 1992, and now the research is invalid. Please explain how.

>This was when they were still using the old food pyramid that told you to eat mostly carbs and fucking sugar.

Carbs from whole foods like whole grains and legumes, while refined sugar is in the "eat sparingly" section, but that has nothing to do with the paper anyway. Go on.
>>
>>41859507

Because, like many scientific theories from previous times, things change as more evidence comes to light and out understanding of hows things work increases

>In these studies, people are split into two groups… one group eats several (1-3) whole eggs per day, the other group eats something else (like egg substitutes) instead. Then the researchers follow the people for a number of weeks/months.

T>hese studies show that:

>In almost all cases, HDL (the “good”) cholesterol goes up (6,7,8).

>Total and LDL cholesterol levels usually don’t change, but sometimes they increase slightly (9,10,11,12).

>Eating Omega-3 enriched eggs can lower blood triglycerides, another important risk factor (13,14).

>Blood levels of carotenoid antioxidants like Lutein and Zeaxanthin increase significantly (15,16,17).

>the richest sources of dietary cholesterol—eggs also contain additional nutrients that may help lower the risk for heart disease. In addition, the moderate amount of fat in an egg, about 5 grams, is mostlymonounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat. It’s also crucial to distinguish betweendietary cholesterolandcholesterol in the blood, which are only weakly related. The focus on dietary cholesterol alone was de-emphasized as more attention was placed on the influence of saturated and trans fat on blood cholesterol.

>Accordingly, theDietary Guidelines for Americans 2015removed the prior recommendation to limit consumption of dietary cholesterol to 300 mg per day. [1]

>Because, like many scientific theories from previous times, things change as more evidence comes to light and out understanding of hows things work increases

So what changed?

>>In almost all cases, HDL (the “good”) cholesterol goes up (6,7,8).

So now you agree dietary cholesterol affects blood cholesterol. HDL may go up slightly, but the rise is disproportionately as LDL

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11333841

>>Total and LDL cholesterol levels usually don’t change, but sometimes they increase slightly (9,10,11,12).

Pic shows the first study cited here. You can design a study in a way that minimizes the chance of finding a significant association, or dulls down the impact.

>>Eating Omega-3 enriched eggs can lower blood triglycerides, another important risk factor (13,14).

Compared to non omega-3 enriched eggs? Oh boy, your arteries are saved

>>Blood levels of carotenoid antioxidants like Lutein and Zeaxanthin increase significantly (15,16,17).

Hilarious to include. They increased "significantly" from low levels to low levels, and guess what that research shows as a side effect?

http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/70/2/247.short

>Egg yolk supplementation increased plasma LDL-cholesterol concentrations by 8–11%
>The benefit of introducing these carotenoids into the diet with egg yolk is counterbalanced by potential LDL-cholesterol elevation from the added dietary cholesterol.

Now explain the dozens of controlled feeding trials summarized in that meta-analysis that show clear increases in LDL from dietary cholesterol intake.
>>
>>41859623

>the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2015removed the prior recommendation to limit consumption of dietary cholesterol to 300 mg per day. [1]

This is mistaken actually. The dietary guidelines advisory committee, not the USDA who publish the guidelines, recommended removing the cholesterol limit. This caused the USDA to be hit with a lawsuit because many members of the advisory committee had financial ties to the egg industry

http://www.businessinsider.com/usda-sued-over-new-dietary-guidelines-2016-1

The final dietary guidelines (published after that article) recommend eating as little dietary cholesterol as possible

That graph is a big stretch in interpretation.

The study title says people who are already high in cholesterol yet you choose to act like it was something hidden for point number 2. You are doing that to just make more lines on your graph and make it look more menacing.

Your "objective interpretation" is retarded. Yes egg substitute is better but it does not say at all that regular eggs are as bad a sausage and cheese anywhere in there, while for the substitute it says directly that it is better.

And then you make a point to say sasuage and cheese are the worst things they could think of to compare too. Wonderful opinion. But it's just that. An opinion. So really only the points about the egg people paying for the study and that egg substitute is better for you should actually be there.

Way to scaremonger. Retard.

"egg consumption had no effects on endothelial function as compared to sausage/cheese (0.4 +/1 1.9 vs 0.4 +/- 2.4)"

As in they were as bad as one another

>while for the substitute it says directly that it is better.

Yeah, egg whites are better, because they don't contain dietary cholesterol, which is bad for your arteries and serum lipids.

>And then you make a point to say sasuage and cheese are the worst things they could think of to compare too. Wonderful opinion. But it's just that. An opinion.

The study refers to it as a "sausage/cheese breakfast sandwich." It impaired endothelial function to the same degree as 3 eggs. Meanwhile, feeding these hyperlimidemics a food without saturated fat or cholesterol improved their endothelial function and lowered their cholesterol levels, as you would expect.
