Yes and no. Amongst my usual group of friends I am, but I'm always striving towards meeting new people and I try to get new successful people in my life often. Somewhere between 40-50% of CS majors do not actually know how to program well when they graduate, they just know enough to pass. Also alot of people copy code and entire projects off of other people.

If you did not do a ton of programming at uni, a company is definitely going to offer less. I had three internships, have worked on open source stuff, multiple hackathons, and have published apps.

Now that you do have the experience, you should probably get paid what you are worth.

Honestly being into athletics has hurt me some in the job search a bit. Often people see me as a dumb meathead stereotype. People who know me are not surprised by my career choice but many people I meet are.
