I've read that weight lifting shoes are optimal while training, so my question is: any pair of shoes that have plain sole can be used for this purpose?
Pic related, some guys in /fit/ recommend this ones
>t. shoe meme
ideally: oly shoes for squatting and pressing, flat shoes (like converse as you posted) for diddlies

Ive been using pic related for squats and deadlifts for the last 2 years or so.
Pretty good, however for squats, some people dont have the ankle mobility to do it without squat shoes. Also consider that because there is no cushioning, its basically like squating barefoot/ or with just socks.
Also mine are starting the fall apart after using them so much, just wear the cloth is glued to the rubber, I think the glue is starting to wear off lol.
Decent shoes overall, and they are hella cheap.
can you squat atg with flat feet? if so you're good with flat soles.
if not you need shoes that raise your ankle.

No, you need to work on your ankle mobility.
Go back to curling in the squatrack stifflet.

If you don't wear grandmas wool socks with pride, shame on thee.
Ok, thanks for the posts guys
