Hey /fit/, I need help turning my life around. I want to be in good physical shape so I can look better and feel better. What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out? Thanks!

Don't you remember when you needed advice when you were starting out? Don't be selfish.

yes and we were all told to read the sticky.
honestly, if you don't want to read the sticky because it's too long, then don't bother with lifting at all.
If you're too lazy to read the sticky, you're probably too lazy to read a book, but here you go.
"hey guys I want to better myself"
>ignores the sticky
>insults people telling him to read the sticky
Don't even bother trying to work out, I can already tell you won't last a week you bungler.

Start with counting calories, getting your body weight and eating habits under control is your first priority.
Then get a gym membership or a pair of running shoes and do whatever kind of training you feel floats your boat.
If you choose the gym, decide on a program and stick to it. SS or whatever you prefer, if you're a complete noob it doesn't really matter the first few months, as long as you follow something. Pretty much all programs that get recommended here work fairly well.
SS (starting strength) is good because the exercises are fairly simple and anyone in any gym anywhere can help you with them.
After a couple months you'll have learnt your way around the gym and you can make an informed decision on your own.
