I don't have kids, but honestly home gym. Squat rack + bench + weights + pullup/dip station shouldn't run you that much, plus you'll never have to pay for gym ever again. I assume if you have a kid you have enough room.

I have one and jesus fuck it saves you time. I didn't realize it, but getting undressed/dressed, travel, waiting on equipment etc. adds up.

With home gym, I just walk in in my underwear, pump out a set, go clean my house a bit/cook, come back, repeat until I'm done, plus my house looks better and dinners ready as soon as I'm done. I also find I'm much less likely to say "fuck it" if I'm not feeling it. Plus its nice just to go pump out a few sets whenever I'm feeling restless.

I'm a 24 year old father, I have a 4 month old daughter with my girlfriend.

She takes care of her for the most part. I work 9-5, but my schedule is flexible so sometimes I can leave early and get to the gym. Other times, I just go after work.

Your schedule can probably stay the same as it is now, however your energy levels are going to fluctuate much more. Some days I am just so beat because I only got 4-5 hours of sleep and I don't feel like going to the gym.

Instead of going every other day, I now just go when I feel like it. Sometimes I work out 4 days in a row, but other times I'll go 2-3 days without a work out. I've gotten into the habit of micro work outs, doing sets of 50 push ups and sit ups throughout the day, and I bought a pull-up bar for my bedroom and usually bang out a few sets of pullups every day. It doesn't compare to weightlifting, but it helps me keep/maintain my strength. Ironically, I've made more progress in strength and aesthetics since my daughter has been born with these varied workouts when compared to my previous regime.

I have 2 year old and my fitness level fell drastically in the first year of being a dad. In the first few months, the baby will be up every hour or two in the night and need milk and a diaper change. If you have a job/other responsibilities, you'll be lucky to get four hours of sleep a night, which is constantly interrupted. You and your partner will be delirious from exhaustion and going to the gym is going to the be last thing on your mind. If you're fortunate, your baby might develop better sleep patterns during months 3-6 and you can resume a more normal sleep schedule. My daughter really didn't start consistently sleeping well until she was one year old though. And if your kid gets sick, its back to being up every hour crying.

My post sounds really negative, but that's not really how I meant it. My daughter is great and I am so glad to have her, but realistically, your ability to maintain a high level of fitness is going to be compromised for awhile. Fortunately, lost gains are only temporary and can be recovered relatively quickly. It feels great to get back in the groove of working out after feeling like a zombie for the better part of a year.

Kids are no where near this bad. They sleep all night by a few months. And if you alternate nights with your spouse then both of you will be just fine. Its even easier if you prep baby shit before bed then its just 20 seconds in front of the microwave, 10 minutes with kiddo, and back to sleep.

You wont wake up more than 2 times in a night. More than that and your kid has colic or just sucks. My kids slept through the night after 2 months.

No she didn't give them up for adoption. She's actually quite involved in their lives. She babysits when she can and helps out when there's doctor visits or school functions, and she's the "Room Mother" for the oldest's class.

I've known her since second grade. We dated for 4 years during highschool and college. After I came out (read as: when she found me with my now husband) we went our separate ways she had a string of disastrous relationships. She's given up on that and focused on her career now.

Just became a dad almost a year ago. Its been hard but worth it. When he was born I was still working so I would go at 530am and have work at 12. Did this for about a month. Then I would wake up at 5am then take baby momma at 830 am and work at 12. Luckily I had a part time job that gave me the freedom. I took pto when he was 3 months and did body weight for a month and then gym. You'll be able to do it. Just more of what time you'll go. The first few months are tiring but it gets easier.
