When I see people in my gym, who could be considered rookies or "normies" in terms of lifting they all fucking sick at squatting. They stand with feet parallel and go down like trying to sit on a chair. That shit will blow up their knees, yes.
If you do it properly, opening your hips and maintaining good back posture, your knees will be fine.
