I'm super ashamed of being fat. I have no excuses.

>be a fosterkid
>fosterparents love me extremely much and work hard all their lives to give me and my brother the best in life
>born with hypercholesterolemia
>parents and doctors cooperate to give me the best diet they can to help me
>i work against them by using all my money on candy and raiding the fridge during the night
>parents chase me outside every day because all i want to do is stay on the computer
>work against them by hiding in nearby forest and just napping all day
>all my friends are active and always make sure to include me and invite me when doing things
>i work against them by either refusing to come along or just sit and watch on the sidelines, alienating myself on purpose

I literally had a naturally fit lifestyle handed to me on a plate and yet i threw it all away because i was stupid

165lbs, down from 210, i'm gonna make it
i can't live every day being angry at myself any more, i have to make it
>>
>>41761920
And you will make it. Hope you still have good relationships with your foster parents. Stay positive anon and embrace the outdoor life.

MEPS on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm a little nervous as my mile is just around 10 minutes right now, but my push-ups and sit-ups are fine.

I'm going to be the oldest mother fucker there and, that in mind, most of my family is deceased or we're not on good terms so writing letters is going to be a bitch. Can't imagine being the one mother fucker not getting mail.

Need to shore up my weight and runs. I put in 5 miles a day and ruck at 60 lbs for 3-5, depending.

Going to add 100 laps a day in the pool and maybe a 5 mile bike ride, just to cardio out the ass.

Focus on bodyweight routine since I'm .75/1.25/2.75/3.5 on my lifts. Close enough, considering the constant cut.

Wish me luck, /fat/s.
>>

Do I run before or after my weight lifting workout to minimize muscle loss? I'm able to run 10 minutes at 6.5 mph. I will try to increase it to 20 min and eventually 30 min as I get skinnier. Do I run before, so I can go home, eat my protein and carbs to replenish as quickly as possible. Or do I do it after so I have more energy during my workout? I'm too lazy to jog during off days.

I'm a recent immigrant to America and I realized Americans are so fat, why is that?

Because obesity is a huge money making industry in the US. The fast and processed food corps. make money but selling shit food to people. Then the medical and fitness (look at planet fitness) industry makes huge bucks """trying""" to cure obesity. It's a pretty shit cycle.
>>
>>41762624
the american mindset is quite stunning, they rather make up support groups and call the media hitler than turning the lens inward and to acknowledge that they have a problem.

There's like a direct correlation between the war on fat/low fat craze and the obesity epidemic.

I weigh every week. I started my plan on April 30, 2017 at 256lbs. I'm down to 245lbs today for a total loss in that time of 11 pounds.

I went 2 weeks where the scale refused to move, but I made some changes and I'm losing now. My goal is 2 pounds or more a week, but I need to exercise a lot more for that to happen
>>
>>41762889
a lb in a week is ok. should be the usual but at 245 you can push for 2 lbs a week until around 200ish. try to recount your diet. are you a grill or just post grills lifting?

I never understood how that trend formed up.
I mean, you still have bakeries, farmer's markets and grocery stores, right? Even if not, the supermarkets still carry fresh produce and raw grains, right? Why have Americans turned to processed packaged garbage so much more than everybody else? The same shit is available in Europe but the majority still buys raw ingredients and cooks at home.
I often hear how bad food is cheaper in the US, how do you manage to make a product cost less than the ingredients that went in it? Is there some organization subsidizing those products?

Also birds.

Question: I was making my shopping list and it had skim milk on it, and my friend gets into a big huff about how it has more sugar than regular milk and no nutrients. I drink Skim because its got the same grams of protein but less calories. What am I missing out on by going with Skim milk?
>>
>>41762951
best thing is, when I visited america, people seem to be too dumb to buy ingredients and cut them up for a salad. they buy their salad already done or from mcdonalds and shit, while complaining "MUH BURGERS MUH SALAD TOO EXPENSIVE THATS WHY WE FAT"

In Canada the nutritional information on products gives you fat as a percentage of daily allowance (which the government thinks should be practically nothing) but they give you sugar as a unit of grams as if you can have unlimited sugar in your diet.

Redpill me on diet soda, please.

I've avoided soda all my life, but today had a can of diet pepsi and discovered that not only was it 0 calories, but all it had was just a little bit of sodium.

But I remember people hating on diet soda in this thread in the past. So why should I start drinking diet soda as an alternative to caffeine instead of coffee and tea?

Makes me sad to see all the people that fall for GOMAD+SS. SS in and of itself will make you look like shit. It's just for developing your nervous system to adapt to the lifts, so once you start going heavier on higher volume programs, you will not struggle with the form. Stop doing GOMAD bro. I would recommend switching to a higher volume 5x5 program while eating at a slight deficit. Once you start to plateau, increase your calories to a maintenance. Once you start to plateau again, increase the surplus a bit more. GOMAD is only for the super skinny guys, you are not one of them. In terms of a good volume program you should switch to, I'd recommend ICF 5x5 or AlphaDestiny's Novice program. Yeah Alex and Bloho are kinda memes, but they have really solid high volume programs that are great for building strength while also putting on a lot of size.

Identify what it is that makes people not want to be your friend.

Maybe you have a shitty laugh. Or you talk about autistic shit. Maybe you talk too little. Probably too much. Identify the core issue and work on it. I had alot of issue speaking at the correct volume. What sounds like a perfect volume to my ears is more akin to a mouse whispering to others. So, I forced myself to speak what I thought was a little too loud which was actually just right.

I'm pretty sure the convenience store nearby doesnt have any of that, the nearest grocery store is 30 min away, also I don't have a fridge in my dorm to store any of that, not to mention I don't even really know how to cook, and the only kitchen is on the ground floor so it'll be a hassle to have to always go down there and spend 20 minutes cooking, so I mostly just eat out, and I have no idea how to keep track of calories there.

Hey /fat/ contest participants, are there any provable challenges you'd like to see as part of our journey, just for fun? I'm willing to elect a $10 gift card or something, but, ironically, these challenges would be totally independent of weigh-ins so that no one feels at a disadvantage for not participating. I was thinking a cooking-related challenge could be involved as well as a challenge using MapMyWalk (because you all should be doing *some* cardio anyways). If you like things exactly the way they are though or if you are against any tangible prizes, that's cool too.

Will it really take that much muscle with it? I've read that until you lose most of you of your fat it won't take much muscle if any at all.

this was a big thing i noticed while i was at college in the US. people cant cook, they dont know how or what. 95% of student end at boxed mac n' cheese.

i once made dough for proper european bread to bake at a BBQ and the people went nuts. like this is magic.

Went on a hike today that was down/up the Niagara escarpment to the river, it was over 3 hours of walking(with breaks since I'm so out of shape, going up the cliffs was pretty rough, tons of rock stairs), even after my planned dinner factored in, I still have only consumed 1100cal, not factoring in my exercise. My planned dinner is a small piece of salmon, brown rice and cooked veggies. Should I add more and have a larger dinner to consume more calories? I'm 330lbs, so 1100 seems quite low. I don't want to over/under do it.
>>
>>41762951
This is true, I must admit it. I had to go out of my way to learn about healthy and homemade stuff to make. I notice that it almost always comes from Mediterreanean or Mexican culture because they have tons of dishes that use fresh ingredients. I can't think of any American foods that use low-calorie ingredients or fresh produce. You have some regions that focus on what's local but it's almost always a meat or seafood, not much creative vegetable/bean dishes. But our main thing is corn so who can be blamed?

Trying to lose weight here and I have a question about supplements.

I am thinking about adding BCAA and creatine to my post workout protein shake.

Is it a good idea?
>>
>>41764396
It's not that i'm starving myself, i just don't feel that hungry anymore, fibers and chicken fill me up

does anyone know how the macros in fiber one cereal are possible? according to the label, there is:
1 g of fat
2 g of protein
25 g of carbs (14 fiber, 11 other)
only 60 calories

do nutrition labels not count calories from fiber?
>>
>>41763891
how many days are u fasting and what incident happened?

if water fasting, after 2-3 days the stomach pain is gone and will feel better. aftee that, every day will be worse.

you should get all your nutrients though. You got any supplements? If not Id just take juice or something to get some minerals. After that, fast again

Probably not counting the fiber calories.Common occurrence that different brands selling the same bean like to pull to trick people into buying their "healthier" version.

They'd have to make an infographic or 2X2 (or more) with timestamps. I figure if it takes enough effort, cheaters won't bother but not too much effort that no one wants to participate. An example of a contest would be "best dinner under 500 calories" using MFP values for the ingredients. Give a 5 day limit to do their cooking and "editing", and have a certain time window to post their graphics, kind of like the old /ck/ cooking competitions, and posters in the /fat/ thread can vote based on any criteria they wish (unless I specify something other than calories).

If you're talking super short term, like a week, you'll be fine, but at that point you're not sustainable losing fat, you're just draining glycogen stores and dehydrating your lean tissue and fat. If you want to actually be less fat and maintain lean muscle, you'll need to do so in a more sustainable manner.
>>
>>41761629
Living with my parents for the summer is both good and bad. I can cook, mostly control my diet, and I have no adult responsibilities.

Bad because my dad really fucking loves to eat outside at least once or twice a week. It's hard maintaining calorie control when you don't know what you're eating. He also gets really pissy and moody if no one listens to him. And not even shitty places, he likes fancy places with soft napkins and artsy cutlery. Makes it even harder because I feel this place is great and I probably shouldn't waste an opportunity like this. I know it's a shitty thing to complain about but still difficult to maintain a decent deficit.

For routine I do a 4 day split, chest, back, shoulders, legs, I start with the big compound for each, bench, dead, ohp, squat, then do 5 or 6 accesory lifts each day 4 sets each every couple weeks I through in variations like rack pulls or front squats I go everyday so I repeate the split just under twice a week, I start every morning with hiit sprints or the concept 2 rower, about 20-30 minutes of either. I can go into more specifics if interested but as long as I focus on the big lifts my strength seems to stay up, I'm not really progressing much anymore but I've been in a massive deficit for 6 months so I wouldn't expect to. I'm guessing about 8-12 more weeks and I can up the cals slowly and work on getting stronger again.

Diet wise I did keto for about the first 25 lbs, worked pretty well but eventually I just didn't feel good in the gym anymore, I've been doing about 1800 cals a day, 190 as protien minimum, the rest split between carbs and fat, I keep my carbs before and after my workout, I meal prep so every Sunday I make 21 meals, I eat three a day nothing more, just those and water. Chicken rice and mixed veggies all day everyday but it's working still so I'm keeping on with it.

The raw food is cheaper here. I think fast food just marketed smarter and harder here throughout the 80s and 90s, helping create a culture where "convenience food" was the norm, whether you were buying shit from McDonald's, or buying frozen pizzas or whatever.

We have great selections at fruit, veggies, and meats at pretty much every grocery store. They're cheap as fuck too. It's just that people are too goddamn lazy to cook them, or they have falsely convinced themselves it's "too expensive" because they once spent spent $8.50 on a raw-vegan-organic-grassfed papaya. Or they have convinced themselves that cooking is "hard" and difficult to learn, when the reality is that you can literally google any fucking food you want, and there are hundreds of recipes and videos telling you exactly how to fucking make it, with millions of reviews, corrections, and tips for each recipe.

There's literally no excuse to not buy mostly raw ingredients and prepare your own meals. It's usually cheaper, it's healthier, and all the knowledge you need is at your fingertips.

Imagine The Mountain from Game of Thrones. I have attached a photo of The Mountain from Game of Thrones in case you can't imagine him. Then imagine if he wasn't as muscular, yet retained his frame. And then imagine if he was pretty fat. That's me. Everywhere I go people always say "Holy shit you're a giant!" but I need to shed some weight and gain some muscle so I'm not shitting on this gift of gianthood by being a fatass.

I know fat dudes have great calves when they lose weight, so I think I'd be covered there. And I typically climb a flight of stairs 5-10 times per day, so I think overall my legs are great, apart from being fat. So would it be acceptable for me to only focus on my arms, core, shoulders, chest, and back? I can skip leg day?

Yeah. My problem is that I know a large amount of this weight is fat as my lifts are pretty shit. I feel like my chest is really developed yet I'm pretty sure my one rep max is around 135 (it could just be that my triceps are shit as I barely even feel my chest working on bp). I'll cut down to 200 and if I end up gaining back a little more weight after I go back on maintenance then it should be fine as my nutrition is actually on point now

No, train your legs, retard. Your legs have some of the biggest muscle groups in your body. Train all of your skeletal muscle. You may have slightly more mass there compared to the average untrained guy, but you still need to train your legs to make them strong, look good, and help accelerate your cut by increasing your BMR.

Baked myself a small load of bread. Flour, water, yeast, salt. 70% hydration, 2 hour autolyse w/ 1/2 flour + water; added the rest of the flour, the salt, and yeast, mixed let sit overnight to ferment, quick knead to smooth, shape into a loaf, 2 hour 2nd rise, cooked in a preheated dutch oven at 450 F, ate with butter while still warm. Came out golden brown, massive oven spring, I could hear the crust cracking as it rested from across the room.

Transubstantiation made perfect sense while I was eating it. 1300 calories total.

Not technically a cheat meal as I'm still under my calories for the day, but I cannot make a habit of it.

>>

no they dont. there is a huge social stigma about being fat here. ive lived in taiwan for a year now, and i can say 2 things. being fat is being an outcast and racism is a real thing here, ie if you are not whiter than them they look down on you. as a hispanic that was borederline obese2 i saw the whole spectrum because i was a fattard and i am brown and being lumped in with the philipinos.

that being said im now out of obese and in normal range with some muscles, granted i lifted 10 years ago and was fit back then but got fat because complacence is a thing. now im getting back to my former glory and im beggining to enjoy the privilages i took for granted back then. i have a ways to go because im currenly at about 19% bf based on the navy calc and caliper readings. in my experiance only chubby azns like chubby ppl..

Woke up feeling like shit and had a shit workout. It pisses me off that I wasn't strong enough to remain sober.
Today was was the 20th day so that means picture and weight-in.
I am making some really great gains at the gym, all lifts are up. Sleep is still an issue as I only get 5-6 hours. Diet was once again very strict. Haven't really started to cardio, I'll get at it once the weight loss stalls

you did well for 19 days in the first round. only be angry if u fall off the horse again in less than 19 days. think of it in terms of us fatasses that will diet and at some point cave in and eat but get back on the following day. because in the grand scheme of things its not the time we fail that we lose its when we let the failure cause us to give up that we lose the game. keep going anon you battle is not lost until u stay down.

from the mainlanders here that i know it is very different. but in my case it has given me the type of environment that enables me to go from 34% to ~19% in a year. combined with the stigma of being philipino by appearance which as near as i can tell is simmilar to being mexican in burgerland. it has also made me learn enough chinese to challenge the racism head on which in turn causes a form of shock when they know they have been caught.

it sucks that it is the ways things are but for me it has opened my eyes to the shit hole society is in general. as i thaught only latin america and burgerland had this type of behavior but to find it here and in other countries has made me decide that i will become fit to stand above all the normies, coupled with an advanced degree to further set me apart from my peers i wish to stand above all the bulshit by being smarter, looking fitter and dressing nicer than anyone so i dont have to deal with societys shit.

People just choose the shit quality food but this isn't a bad thing. I'm America, it's real easy to spot the lazy people who have no self respect and you shouldn't work with. In other countries, you might have to wait until they are closer and you can see their teeth or smell the beer at 10 in the morning. We've eliminated this as you can see the herd coming from miles off. It's convenient.

1kg a week isn't that bad, you can probably do it.

I used to lose ~2,5kg a week, took supplements and exercised a lot. From the goal weight I'm gonna assume you're a grill - you might stop menstruating for the duration (and your TDEE will lower by however much it took to manage your reproductive system) and you might lose hair. A year after my retard diet half my hair is new and much shorter than the rest of it, sticking out all over the place.

This is probs a stupid question, but how do I know how many calories I am burning per day?

>>
>>41769853
I weigh every single day. Don't understand the stigma against it.
Keeps me in check and I know day to day weight gain/lose doesn't matter. Better every day than a surprise at the end of a week.
