For someone in an apartment with very little space, is this sort of thing a good idea? Anyone use one? I have a couple of gyms around me but Im in a new city and don't know anyone. I'm pretty awkward and don't want to bother people with spotting me while I lift embarrassingly low weight.

pretty much this. buying a machine like that is a waste of space and money. if you want you can start off with dumbell, no spotter needed. plus if you go to a gym youll be able to learn more just by watching other
