Is there anything wrong with really long rest times?
I have a home gym in my living room, and I'm doing SL5x5. I tend to take upwards of 15-25 minute breaks between my squats, and then 5-10 minutes between all my other exercises
Is this an issue? It's not a waste of time for me because I just read or continue doing whatever else I'm doing between sets, since it's a home gym
Am I missing out on some aspect of gains by taking super long rest breaks?

Pump feels good, can confirm.

If I don't do it, I get really bad pain in my knees and hip joints. Maybe I'm lifting above my safe maxes, I don't know. But I'm making good gains with not many deloads.
If it works for you I guess I don't see the problem. The ideal rest time between sets is 3-5 minutes. I'd have a hard time staying motivated waiting longer but to each his own.

> Too much rest
Put some effort in fatty. It won't kill you.
Yes, that's way too long. The more you rest between sets, the easier it is. If you're working a high intensity (ie, 1 rep maxes), then 2-5 minute recovery between sets might make sense (never personally done that type of training). If you're working higher volume, moderate intensity for hypertrophy, then 30-90 seconds is normal. You can increase the difficulty by resting as little as possible between sets, or do agonist pairs, ie a set of bench followed immediately by a set of latpull down, then immediately back into benching, etc; so that you rest one group of muscle, while working the opposite.
You're missing out on a lot of gains with long rest periods.
Also, even though you didn't ask, there's also optimal times for completing reps. Many do their reps too quickly, missing out on TUT, which is time under tension.

Shit...
So should I deload my weights a lot, like 30%, and start from scratch with short rest periods?

Try cutting your rest time down and listen to your body as far as the deload goes. You're resting so long that you might actually be able to lift more by going to 5 minute rest intervals.

It depends on your goal. If you are making good strength gains and that's your goal then continue what your doing. If you want more mass and endurance lower the weight and rest times
