I've been doing weights for a long time now, and I've gotten pretty much as big as I'd like to be - the issue is, my diet is shit, so I've got a lot of fat on top of it.
I'm wondering what would happen if I just started doing cardio instead and cut down from lifting 5-6 times a week to 2-3 with running in between?
Would I just lose muscle and keep the same body fat (assuming I got enough protein in), or would it help me lose the fat?
Any help appreciated, current stats:
BENCH 85KG
SQUAT 100KG
DEAD 130KG
OHP 45KG
>doing the weights
I wouldn't consider lifting for 3-6 months to get to those stats a long time though
Provided you eat the same amount of calories, running instead of lifting will create a larger caloric deficit, provided you're not eating higher than maintenance and the deficit actually allows for net loss is key but regardless, running is a great way of burning calories

But will those calories detract from my big or from my fat?
Also, follow on from previous post after re-reading OP, your diet being shit would be a much better place to start making changes than just running for sub-optimal results. Save your time, eat better.
Also, if you do cut down to 2-3 times a week I'd suggest hopping on a strength routine as your lifts are quite low for someone who claims to have been lifting a while

For the most part, you either build muscle or burn fat, as to build your body requires extra calories and to burn fat you need to restrict calories.
Only exception to this rule under normal circumstances are new lifters under the spell of noob gains, so I would say it will mostly take from your fat and may just drop your lifts down a little bit but nothing you won't get back after you complete your cut

I agree, I've been counting calories but too often my girlfriend will want snacks or my friends will want to go out drinking etc, it fucks my shit up
I do enjoy running, so it's not exactly a huge deal, I just don't do it because it's wasted calories when I was trying to make strength gains
>I've been doing weights for a long time now
>has stats most people have 3 months into lifting
this has to be bait, there's no way anyone could be lifting 5-6 times a week and be that weak
unlesss you're a grill I suppose

>BENCH 85KG
Why don't you just bench teddybears like in that episode of Spongebob?

Your stats are pathetic.
