Gaining weight and gaining muscle comes hand to hand. Every second you are burning fat AND proteins too, just way way less protein than you would if you had no fat to expend.
Better to lose something less than one pound of fat a week due to eating -500cal from your maintenance than trying to lose 3 pounds of fat a week and being too tired and having your body breaking too much muscle from your limbs, core, spine, neck to pay for your desire to lose weight fast.
