Going on holiday in a month

Been trying to workout and eat better for the last 3 weeks after stopping lifting in January after lifting for about 3 months. results have obviously been pretty much non existent coz its only been 3 weeks.

determined to throw my ass into the next gear - whats the best thing i can do to look my best a month from today?

I have a huge problem with being able to eat enough. I feel full and satisfied at about 1000-1200 calories, but especially when I lift, eating that little makes my body go into starvation mode and I gain/maintain instead of losing. Find a good tasting protein shake/powder. I have one that tastes like marshmallows and it's fucking delicious. Also if you really can't resist ice cream, get something like Halo Top. It all comes down to your self control though, nothing's gonna change if you're weaker than your cravings.

I'm not you, so can't be sure, but for most people it's just unsustainable. Feels better than pizza at first, seeing dem numbers drop so fast. Then it REALLY slows down, your hair starts falling out in handfuls, if you're a woman your reproductive system just turns off and knocks a fair amount of calories off your TDEE. Then something bad happens and you get depressed, start cheering yourself up with food because that's what fatties do, gain weight extra fast, get more depressed etc. If you do manage to lose everything you wanted to you now have to bring up your calorie intake very very slowly, and then watch it for the rest of your life - which isn't that easy, because you tortured yourself for months and probably didn't develop the right mindset when it comes to food.

I work an arduous shift pattern of 12 hours for 7 days, then 7 days off, nights followed by days with a 2 hour total commute. Macros are something like 69% fat, 23% protein, 8% carbs.

Basically, if you have something as paltry as a peice of white bread, or a tortilla, you're done Ketosis.

If you're concerned, get some urinalysis strips, and really watch your carb intake.

Once you get into ketosis, you can enjoy some of the more sugar filled things in moderation. I occasionally put a bit of sweet BBQ sauce on my burger, but it's better to avoid it if possible.

I would stick to moderate fat meats, eggs, and green vegetables. Jumping straight from non-keto into shit like Coconut Oil and MCT oil is a great way to fucking obliterate your bowels and be shitting constantly.

3/4 cup of almond flour
3/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese

Stir in mixing

Add 2 tablespoons of cream

Put in microwave 1 minute and stir, put back in microwave 30 seconds and stir

Add egg and seasoning (rosemary, Italian seasoning, etc) and stir.

I put on baking sheet and then squished it into pizza shape with parchment paper.

Bake for 10-13 minutes until desired crispness then take out, put on toppings and bake another 5ish minutes.

Bought a big ass Cadbury bar last month.

Just started keto after my buddy said I should try it. He's a nutritionist, and he insists the key is hitting your protein macros while keeping carb intake under 25g. Fats will sort of "take care of themselves", provided you're not eating dumb shit.

He also says net carbs are not a meme. Fibre doesn't invoke much of an insulin response, which is what you're looking to avoid. So fibre-rich veggies will give you some wiggle room regarding carbs in other foods.

Do what works for you. I can eat a days worth of calories and still be hungry 8 hours later, or I can eat 300 calories and be good for 8 hours. I personally do better on small meals more frequently. There are a lot of people on here that do fasting where they eat all their calories in a few hours and then fast for the rest of the day, if that works then great.

I think its the same with diets, if no carbs, no meat, high fat, whatever works for you then keep doing it. There is not one right way to lose weight. But you need to make a conscience effort.

Looking for some advice,

I'm 6'2" @ ~270 lbs (around 30% BF last measured)

Attached is my daily meal plan. Occasionally on some days I'll be busy with work/not have time to eat all my meals on time, by the time I get home I don't feel hungry enough to eat my last meal of the day.

First off, how do you not know how many calories are in your meals? You just measure it out and look at the back of the box. If you are tying to make a goal but you are not sure about 500 calories how are you even expecting it to work?

First off you need to lose the weight. Don't worry about muscle loss and all that advanced stuff. If it concerns you then lift weights three days a week.

Your logging is classic under reporting of calories. Even if it was true then it would still lead to heavy binging of food. Many people like you record good days, but don't log bad days.

Up your calories to 2000 a day and be religious about keeping it. I'm keeping a log for the rest of my life, because I can't be trusted with my food.

Are you just eating straight chicken and broccoli or are you adding anything? Do you put olive oil in the pan before cooking, a little butter on the broccoli, maybe you squirt some bbq sauce to dip your chicken in. If so all that has to be added. 1 tbsp of olive oil is 190 calories. 2 tbsp of bbq is about 75 calories. That little butter on the broccoli can range depending on the size. All this stuff adds up.

If you are not putting anything on your chicken then you may get sick of it fast. Three of the exact same meals three times a day every (especially if it is bland as fuck) is going to make you want to reach for those other foods because you are sick of what you are making.

I suggest finding about 4-5 meals that you really enjoy and make those the base of your diet. Even if it is just bbq chicken vs teriyaki vs lemon and pepper etc just mix it up. Also broccoli is a super food but you need more veggies.

I've lost ~15 lbs so far, I cook all my food on Sunday for the week and eat it through the week. I don't log my calories consistently because this is the only thing I eat. I am the second guy. I never said give up. I said the exact opposite. I did say you need to be more conscience with your food. Maybe the cereal is hard (even though if it is something you eat regularly you could just count out how many pieces go in a cup) but the pizza bits are easy as fuck to count. The issue is the guessing. You said it yourself that you overestimate to be safe, but that is actually a terrible idea because you convince yourself that it is okay to go over because you think you were over estimating here and there.

Now maybe you are different but studies have shown that people greatly underestimate their calories. We don't know you personally, all we can go off of is what most people do. And in your own post you were not sure if you had + or - 500 calories. 500 calories a day is a pound a week. So it is important to know where those calories are.

You can't go wrong. Me and my boyfriend love bell peppers and they have more vitamin C than an orange so we eat a lot of those. I add cauliflower to a lot of my dishes for bulk. Cauliflower has a real mild flavor when cooked and will absorb the flavor of what you are cooking, I joke with my boyfriend and just call it more chicken.

Look for things that are different colors. If you are eating a lot of green, broccoli, spinach, asparagus try some orange carrot or red bell pepper or red beat. Mix it up.

i almost never eat breakfast, in fact im unironically against it most the time, if it isn't bananas. i have been taking adderall recently to calm me a bit, and it makes you not wanna eat, but when you wake up (i take it at like 5pm) you are very hungry, so i sorta gotta fight the urges, so thats why i had the cereal. i usually eat like peanuts with corn or something i know isn't that bad

If you are 6'2'' 270lb your TDEE is probably about 2,700 calories. If you want to lose 1lb a week you should eat 2,200 calories (which is about what your MFP is telling you) This will put you at 220lb this time next year. If you drop your daily amount to 1950 calories a day, you will be losing about 1.5lb a week and be closer to 200lb this time next year which is a pretty good weight for a 6'2'' guy.
