I've been using these bars to curb my appetite in the morning. You should check them out:

1 pack coconut (shredded or flaked, unsweetened)
Eggs
Vanilla extract/almond extract
Complimentary flavor(Chocolate chips, peanut butter, salted cashews, up to you)
Almond Meal (Optional, but helps add a denser texture)
1. toast your coconut (This is the MOST important step. Don't bother if you don't toast that coconut.)
2. Add eggs and extract (just a bit of either or both) to a bowl and beat to combine. Use about 2-3 eggs per pack of coconut. Enough to hold everything together.
3. Add coconut, almond meal (about 1 tbs per cup of coconut.) and other items to eggs. Fold to combine.
4. Put in a square pan or spoon onto baking sheet. Don't forget to grease/use parchment paper here.
5 Bake at 350 till golden on top.
6. Let cool. Preferably overnight.

I've really been enjoying these. Not a baker so someone could probably make them better, but I like the simplicity and the lack of sugar. Toasted flake coconut in a bowl with milk is also a great substitute for cold cereal if you're craving that.
>>
>>41595030
Not backing bananas =/= hating on fruits. What kind of logic is that? Obviously, the food matrix of a banana is miles ahead of a candy bar. However, if you're looking to eat efficiently to cut calories while optimizing nutrition, a calorie dense fruit with meager nutritional return is not your best choice.
>>
>>41594983
What the fuck man, a banana isn't even that calorie heavy for it's mass considering how fucking sweet it is. Don't really get the comparison with candy bars.

Bananas have a pretty low glycemic index and glycemic load score. They have good fiber and a lot of valuable nutrients. It's a very good thing to eat when trying to lose weight, as long as you dont overeat. They also contain natrual probiotics that may aid you in your weight loss.

Find one with alot of fiber and you'll be "good". It's not exactly health food, but as long as you dont go over your calorie limit, you'll be good.

decided today's the day i go cold turkey on the pop. finished what i had, and won't get more.
also decided to readjust goal weight and macros, so today became a cheat day before my first weigh in this time around.
lost ~20 pounds on a very loose iifym, but i'm shifting to a high protein lower carb diet for a while. not keto-low levels tho, my macros are 115C175P58F i think, i'd have to open my spreadsheet to be sure.
took bf% test after gorging, at the end of my day, and the caliper test read 21.5%. last time i took the caliper test it was 17 or 18% first thing in the morning, like 2 weeks ago. but early this week i was 16% on the navy method, so who knows.
using these greatly varying numbers, i decided to shift my weight goal to the lower of the two so i can just end it early if i feel like i've gone far enough. goal range is 150-165, so i'm shooting for 150 currently.

Not even close to being a valid claim. Consider caloric density here, as well as fiber vs sugar. In both regards, the banana is on the worse side of the scale. Again, better than a candy bar or a slice of cake, but not ideal when you could be eating something else.

Bananas have a GI of 48-52, that is considered low. You can always find things with even lower GI, and I'd never say Bananas is the best food in the world, but it's a good healthy fruit to eat while losing weight. The banana will give you a thousand good benefits that the cake will never do.

How has nobody mentioned glycemic load yet? If we're going to reference the GI, we should focus on the GL instead. In truth, the GI and GL is meaningless. It should consider other factors (fiber, food matrix, calories:nutrients, etc). Those are the factors that really lead me away from bananas towards other fruits like berries, apples and oranges.

Thanks bros :)
This vacation have been a carrot for me since I started my latest weight loss plan in mid February. To begin with, I wanted to lose weight for the vacation. My goal was first 90kg, then I changed it to 85 as I passed 90. When I got close to 85, I started dreaming of 80.

I've been jo-joing between 116 and 90 kg for almost two years, but this time I feel like I actually found a lifestyle that I can maintain in the long run.
>>
>>41595247
You have your own opinion and that's fine, but the bottomline is you're advising a 270lbs man to stop eating his daily 70-100kcal banana, which is absolutely ridiculous
>>
>>41595293
I did in a post further up, a GL of 11 is not bad. There maybe things that is better or worse, but I see no reason to avoid eating a banana a day while losing weight. Berries are gold, I eat 200g of blueberries every day.
>>
>>41594983
My glucose is 83 mg/DL (healthy range is 70-100mg/DL)

I'm fine with the bananas
>>
It's been 24 hours since I've eaten. Why aren't I hungry? I'm not trying to fast, but there's no point eating when I don't feel like it.
>>
>>41595312
Yes I am, and it's not ridiculous. Look, bananas are fucking great. However, if you are focusing on loosing weight through cutting calories, then consider switching to something that has a better fiber to carb or calories to gram ratio.

I can't believe I let one little fuck up on my keto diet to permit me to just binge all weekend. I'll weigh myself tmw morning and see what the damage is but I was doing so well (stuck to keto for just past 1 month). I guess it's time to just suck it up and get back to work, get back into ketosis and learn from this huge fuck up, it's just amazing how it my discipline unravelled within a couple days into utter mayhem.

Feel so fat (and drunk atm) :\
>>
The smoothie with 4 bananas and 1 mango I eat/drink every single day does not seem to slow down my weight loss( >>41595069
).
I believe the reason we are fat in the first place, is because we eat alot of calorie dense food without nutrients and our body have no idea how to deal with it, because that is something humans have only been doing for the last 70-100 years.
However, who knows what's right or wrong when it comes to weight loss? I think we all just have to try out different things, and find out what works for us.
>>
>>41595473
Yeah I know but I go off the rails about once a month and when I go off I go way the fuck off and it's infuriating to me that I have so little willpower when it comes to that shit.

What gets me is I want to be 250lbs by the time I get into basic training my countries military, so that was supposed to be 40 lbs in 6 months. Now I have 2 months left and I have to drop 20lbs. Doable, but it feels bad to fuck up this much. And of course now I question my discipline and wonder if I'll even make it in military when my diet discipline isn't perfect (though my training is, so at least there is that).
>>
>>41595500
You can totally do that shit, amigo. And the military might help you establish some of that discipline you're looking for. Eye on the prize and prove yourself right in a positive way.

guys, please answer

so after about a week and a half of constant fucking up, i decided to do the last option available.

Adderall. i was told i had to have them bout a year ago but i just decided not to. well after a year passes, i found the pills again. i was just gonna sorta just throw them away, but i decided to look up various things on adderall

i heard it can lower apatite and increase metabolism. i have few friends i know who takes them, and they are very skinny. almost Auschwitz mode skinny. im a healthy (healthy for being the weight i am anyway) and i think i will start taking them again, mainly just for the weightloss. anyone take them? anyone tried taking them for weightloss before? from what i heard of them, they seem to be like a remarkable weightloss pill, so i'm surpised i haven't heard it here, since this board covers everything related to Keto and to things like water fasting.

If people are anything like me they need rigid structure to follow or they'll fail massively. I'm down 205 to 160lbs.
Don't just eat less by following what's healthy (you're going to end up eating giant plates of steamed vegetables and hating it because you don't understand nutrition).
You can still EAT good quantities of nice food, you just have to have a structure.
KETO: lost a tonne of weight, felt very bad. Eat as much greasy delicious bacon as you want, have body fat stripped quicker than you can imagine.
STARCH-BASED DIET: (Look up Dr. McDougall) This is vegan purely out of necessity. 80%+ calories from carbs, 10% fat, 10% protein (or higher for lifting). Gigantic plates of rice and potatoes with seasoned lentils, chickpeas, kidney beans. Vegetables on the side. No frying in oil, but plenty of seasoning and salt. Tastes great and genuinely fills you up.

I do McDougall Starch Solution now and it's by the far the easiest way to lose weight. You're eating large quantities of nice food (had brown rice with sauteed veggies and paprika seasoning with some chickpeas, 700 calories overflowing from a plate).

You can still get fat while on adderall if your eating habits are shit. It's because while Adderall does kill the feeling of being hungry, If you're used to eating 20 Hotdogs at noon every day by habit, Adderall won't help with that.
>>
How do I develop a healthy relationship with unhealthy food? I'm a former fat guy, and today I had my first full English breakfast since I lost weight. I know that one meal isn't going to affect me in the long run - and that thin people are allowed to eat pizzas and burgers, but I can't stop feeling guilty.

no you aren't.

No idea what the effects of Adderall are on weightloss and appetite, but you are looking for an easy way out when there are none. On or off adderall you need to change what you are doing and more importantly eating.

Meme show. Make people do 2 hours of cardio a day to lose weight while feeding them steamed veggies. Not sustainable by averages fat ass.

Alternative: low-impact exercise (walking 10,000-30,000 steps a day: 400-1100 calories burned). Follow keto/Starch-based/paleo-diet: better food, bigger quantities, clear structure.

i won't lie, my diet is all over the place. i can go 2 weeks, eating 1,000 calories a day and feel completely fine, almost forcing myself to have to eat, then the next week i can eat 4,000 calories a day and literally not stop. most tell me its because im starving myself the previous weeks, but its not like that. when i think of someone binge eating, i think of someone starving themselves on purpose for a week, then they can't handle it, so they binge eat. mine isn't like that. its like a weird On-off switch that triggers randomly. i think have Yo-Yo'd my diet so much over these last year or so, i have officially broken myself

Live by my formula,

FASTING--DISCIPLINE--ROUTINE

*FASTING
Intermittent fasting
3 days fast 4 day feast
or you can do 16/8
it depends on your workloads
intermittent fasting means you eat alternately
for a week

Discpline
Integrate Diet and Exercise into the fasting
Follow it strictly,
even tho you're on the feasting period
make sure your caloric restriction is still active to ensure maximum weight loss

*ROUTINE
try this for 1year and if you gain something
on my program then make this as a permanent routine to your lifestyle

the formula is just basically this

Lei-Heo+DiFa=Wgloss

-Lower Energy Input
-High Energy Output
-Controlled Diet and fasting
= Weight Loss

before faggots try this, Train yourself not to eat for 2days, because the 2nd day is the hardest part of the Fasting Phase, after the 3rd day, You will feel like a million bucks, I can garuantee yah, I've done this

been doing 16/8 IF for the past few months, have gone from 92kg to 80.5kg while making gains in the gym. in recent days i have had real issues with keeping cals under 2500 though (pic related), even though mostly with very warm weather i tend to eat less? now i have been on 82 for most mornings and seems like the weight trend is going in the wrong direction while gains in gym are still stable and pretty great. is it sth to be worried about, or has my TDEE just increased due to more muscle mass? generally the foods i tend to eat are whole, have loads of fiber and protein, and i drink more than 2L of water each day as well, usually with those characteristics the calories should be lower, but i am still very hungry in the evenings. is it sth i should worry about, or is it temporary and overall going in the right direction?

No. they're majority fiber in terms of carbs and have a whole variety of flavors available. He only downside in my opinion is the price. Otherwise they're 20g protein for ACTUALLY around 150cals. The nutrition label doesn't account for the fiber in the carbs and counts them all the same.

quick question lads - what role does macro's have on body fat loss? i.e. wont reducing protein increase fat loss as protein is responsible for maintaining and building tissue in the body?

i.e. if you got 60% of cals from carbs, you would lose more bodyfat?
>>
>>41597781
one is for building block and the less of it is the opposite of it which is burning it down,

decide your program
-Loosing some weight(Fat<Muscle Mass)
-Maintaining Weight( Equilibrium)
-Gaining Weight (Muscle Mass>Fat)
>>
>>41597781
nah, quite the opposite - increase protein to make sure you don't lose muscle and burn more fat. also eating protein increases your calorie expenditure with same level of activity and makes you more full than carbs though being the same in calories per gram. go like 2g protein per lean kg, 0.5g fiber per kg, same for fats, the rest (as little as you can tolerate) being carbs.
>>
>>41597844
im looking to lose bodyfat whilst maintaining muscle mass, so should i stick to a moderate protein diet?
>>
>tfw now about 22% bf
>6'4", 96kg
>my main goal is to hit 100kg bench, currently at 90kg
>want to stay bulking to gain strength but don't want to get fat

Hoping that I can get that last bit of strength before I get too fat. Then I'll cut after whilst doing PHAT or something.
>>
>>41597781
>wont reducing protein increase fat loss as protein is responsible for maintaining and building tissue in the body?

the reduction of protein will not make any significant changes in loosing fat, you may take loads of it but if your body ignores it(Controlled Diet)it will not be of any use

the body still obey a simple rule

Low calorie input and you subtract it with your Higher energy output, then that will decide How fast and big your fat loss is, as long as you take a low calorie input than what is prescribed according to you stats then you're basically burning fats no matter how active you are
>>
>>41597874
moderate to high. 40-50% of total calories.

What's the deal with caffeine? Apparently it heightens your metabolism but what's the downside? I feel really buzzed but also kind of light headed and hungrier after having a massive Americano coffee, which is pure coffee, with a small jug of milk and sweeteners.
>>
>>41597874

The more Muscle you have, the more fat you will burn,,
Imagine like this, The more Big the Engine you put on your machine, The more fuel it needs to intake in a very short time, that means, you will loose ridiculous amount of fat if you use your muscle other than dieting and fasting combined

don't restrict protein, that is your building block, maintain proper protein and other essentials, then use it efficiently

>Does lifting contribute to fat loss or is it cardio?
Cardio is most effective for fat loss, but all exercise contributes.

>Do you gain muscle growth when under a calorie restricted diet?
Yes, you can gain muscle while restricting calories. If you want to get big you should read the sticky and tailor your diet accordingly.
>>
>>41598981
>I'm vegan
75% semen 20% lube and 5% lead split should be good
>>
>>41599138
come on now, let's act like adults
>>
>>41598859
Former obese here, it's easy to Fantasize about being thin. think about all those times you want to be thin, and not require XXXXL Shirt's, and 50+ pant's/short sizes.

now instead of just thinking about it, down size your meals, go to Diet, or just cut Soda out all together(your Teeth/Stomach will thank you for this). then just to some Cardio, and Volla you just lost weight, it's not going to happen instantly, but with hard work and Determination.

losing Weight is one of the few things in life that requires no luck, it's all 100% up to you, and your own determination.

for instance I have a 2 liter of Mountain dew on my desk, it's been their for a year, want to guess what's towards me from it? I nice bottle of Water. the 2 liter is their to remind me to never give in to temptation.
>>
>>41598798
>Does lifting contribute to fat loss or is it cardio?
Any physical activity contributes to fat loss. Lifting makes you stronger, more aesthetic, more healthy more functionning, and you're also burning calories while lifting those heavy ass weights so you will lose fat (unless your diet is shit)

Cardio will greatly improve your cardiovascular system, which is important considering heart failure is the #1 cause of death in America. A healthier cardiovascular system will also translates into better erections, better lifting sessions and better recovery. Better oveall health, better looking skin, etc...

However if your ONLY goal is to lose fat, cardio will make you lose fat faster because jogging for an hour is much more intense than lifting for an hour, aka:
-lift a barbell 12 times for a total of 30seconds
-awkwardly walk in a circle for 1min
-check phone for 1min
-lift barbell 6 times for a total of 12 seconds
-casually walk to water fountain
-rince and repeat

That being said, you should do both

>Do you gain muscle growth when under a calorie restricted diet?
It depends of your current bodyfat %.
Fat is basically stored energy, so if you're a big guy lifting hard and eating below his daily caloric maintenance, your body still has access to a big ol' tank of calories right there in your belly, ass, manboobs, etc... Just make sure you eat enough protein and you will gain muscle on a caloric deficit. It wouldn't be true for a skeleton though, which are the only people that should bulk

So, at what point should you start dieting after building up enough muscle to make it fast?

Yes, but keep in mind muscle-building is extremely slow. You only gain a few pounds of lean muscle mass per year

Why do some people say cheat meals are bad? Why do they say it "resets" progress? Do people go way above their tdee for their cheat meals?

To my knowledge, it shouldn't hurt (weight wise) to have food (even fast food) as long is it meets your deficit or just below maintenance, and it shouldn't "reset" any progress but rather just relatively low or zero progress.

Day two of extreme low calories to make up for eating way too much 5 days out of the week.
>>
>>41599451
>Do people go way above their tdee for their cheat meals?
Yes, that's the main problem. A cheat meal should be something like a 500kcal big mac with 6 nuggets (300 kcal?) and a small fry.
Not a bag of doritos with a 2L of Mountain Dew totaling 2500kcal

It's better to have no cheat meal at all, but personally I have one every week for social gains because I don't want to be that awkward health freak ordering a dressingless salad and glass of water at the restautant.

General rule of cheat meal is: make sure it has proteins and don't stuff yourself like a pig

Hey /fat/ I was hoping to get everyone's opinion on a diet question.

Right now, I'm on IF; when I get home around 4:00 I eat a 400 - 500g of raw veggies for my snack. Typically carrots, celery, cucumber, a small apple, and whatever else is on sale that week. Seems to be working (pic related).

The problem is it's a bit monotonous, so I'm curious: What veggies does /fit/ enjoy raw? I'm looking to build more variety into my diet without just eating a bunch of fruit.
>>
>>41599619
>my family always wants to
>have a beer after dinner because the weather is nice

This is so pathetic of an excuse that seriously you should leave. Go have your beer and eat some dessert.

I have recently started cutting sugars and pretty much any shit food.

I've started following a couch to 5k guide to help me exercise in increments but it tells me I should be doing 3 days out of 7 so my body has time to heal. Should I not be jogging/walking in the other 4 days? seems wrong..

would love some advice...

Because fat psychology being what it is, "oh I have the odd cheat meal" can translate as "Every weekend I consume enough junk food to have a measurable impact on FritoLay's stock price".

Alternately, former fat psychology being what it is, a lot of people think that they have to treat junk food like an alcoholic treats booze, and that once slice of cake and the next thing they know they'll be back in the gutter, begging for fried chicken and sucking cock for Krispy Kreme donuts.

Finally, some people are of the opinion that all diets fail because people think of them as a temporary restriction, when that ends, people just gain the weight back. If you're trying to frame losing weight as a permanent lifestyle change you are making, the idea of a 'cheat meal' isn't helpful.as it implies that the diet is an abnormal restriction on eating, and the cheat meal is doing what is normal.
>>
>>41599703
The classic mistake of those that start to exercise is doing way too much and after 2 to 3 weeks stopping it all.

Better to do 3 days a week for the long term, then to get burned out once the weight loss slows and losing motivation.

Around 1000 on average, but I dont count in exercise. I dont focus so much on the macros. I eat some low carb meals, and some high carb meals. Im only eating once or twice per day. Normally fasting until I get home from work. I found this to be the easier way for me. My main meal normally consist of:
25g Spinach
200g mushroom
1 normal sized onion
0,5 cucumber
2 tomatos
and either ground beef, normal beef or chicken filent. I sometimes turn this into some kind tacos :)

My other meal is normally one of the following:
50g oatmeal
200g blueberries
100g low fat cottage cheese
100g alpro soya yogurt
1 Table spoon if Chia seeds.

or a smoothie with:
4 ripe bananas
1 medium or large mango
200g blueberries
sometimes 1-2dl coconut water.

Im also using apple cider vinegar, and probiotic capsules, and I also ferment food and eat alittle before each meal. (sauerkraut, beets, carrots, salsa, onions).

It depends on the nature of the exercise, and how hard you're training. I do the Simple and Sinister kettle bell workout in the mornings, and that was explicitly designed to be done 6 days a week. Some routines are designed to train to failure, and require more recovery time.

General rule of thumb: Add stuff gradually, listen to your body, and learn the difference between exertion and damage. If it starts to hurt and the hurt persists for any significant length of time once the load is off back off a bit.

I do a 10 minute cardio warmup (exercise bike) on MWF with my weight lifting. Tuesday and Thursday I'll do just cardio of at least half an hour. Sunday I rest (like God).

So far, I've been exercising every day and eating 2500 calories. Instead of dieting in the sense of changing what I eat, I've decided to portion. I'm 6'3 and started at 382lbs, and so far this appears to be working for me and I've actually gained some muscle definition and clearly lost some weight.

But every single bit of advice tells me I should be eating 1500 or 2000 calories, which doesn't seem feasible for me while doing cardio, lifting, etc. I know I could eat healthier food that is lower in calories that will make me feel less hungry, but I'm pretty sure if I make drastic changes like that, I just won't stick to it.

I don't mind if my weight loss is less drastic. Is 2500 really just too high for a fatass like me? Do I have to cut to something super low? Because I feel way better and it appears to be working just fine to eat less of the things I like.
>>
>>41600049
Your TDEE is like 3800 calories!
2500 calories is fine now. Just lower it slowly when you start losing weight. Like 4.3 calories every pound you lose or 220 calories every 50 lbs.

First of all, congratulations on hitting your dream weight! Your dedication and hard work is fucking amazing, holy shit. Struggling with exercise and food for a year to go from 220 to 119 is fucking incredible. You've earned it.

I'm going to assume that you've already done what you can to make her stop, so I'll leave out the "just put your foot down" advice (though it's the best option). Go out for coffee or green tea (appetite suppressants). Offer her some sugarless minty gum (appetite suppressant). Light some peppermint or vanilla candles (appetite suppressant - tricks your brain into thinking you've eaten). Try to include grapefruit into your meals with her (appetite suppressant).

If you want to go extreme and make her sick, make something that has salmonella poisoning. Bad eggs, expired raw chicken, etc. Not remotely lethal, but enough to make her sick for awhile.

If all else fails, then just remember that you can make up for it after she leaves. Humans have an estimate lifespan of 79 years, so one week of less-than-perfect health won't destroy your life.
>>
>>41600592

How about not setting some kind of specific deadline on your weightloss if your entire goal is to lose weight? That's silly. You're just setting yourself up to give up and be disappointed the second you don't think you're going to meet that arbitrary number.

Instead, commit to the lifestyle. Eat healthier, exercise, lose weight. Getting below 200 will eventually happen. I don't see why it has to be 365 days unless you have some serious medical reason why it has to be that fast.

The biggest mistake beginners make is they try to do too much or want a guarantee or instant results to tell them it's working when that's really not what you should be focused on. The idea is you make your life better, and the weight loss and body will come with it. As a newbie if your entire focus is on looking better and wanting max results instantly, you will be much more likely to wind up quitting.
