Hey /fit/ what would be the best martial art to get fit in: Muay

Muay Thai and/or Judo would be what I'd go with.

Judo is probably one of the most practical fighting styles honestly, but you can benefit from cross training a bit in all of them.

There's 1 Judo school near me and countless BJJ schools (also the Judo one has BJJ classes...). Do BJJ if you want the confidence in finding a school down the line when you move.

Kickboxing and Boxing are breddi gudd to get fit.

judo is pretty fucking effetive. I'm still a beginner but it shocks me how a person half my size can manipulate my balance in such a way that I am forced to go flying over their shoulder

I can't in good conscience advise you to get into boxing or kickboxing. Head trauma is a risk in all contact sports, but it's guaranteed in boxing. You don't want to live with the effects.

That leaves grappling. Judo would be my pick, but it comes down to which gym you enjoy the most and will therefore attend the most. Judo focuses on violent throws and fighting quickly and efficiently on the ground while recognizing when to break it off. BJJ has a better ground game IN A SPORT FIGHTING CONTEXT but becomes mostly an academic matter when you start thinking about what you'd do if you had to actually fight someone in the wild.

Also BJJ attracts more trashy people and those who aren't willing to commit to the conditioning you need to train judo successfully and safely.

OP here, I've heard that boxing training and especially Muay Thai is pretty effective and gets results. Would I have to go to the gym as a supplement with Judo?

A good fight gym will offer BJJ, Judo, and Muai Thai. A real good one will offer boxing and greco roman on top of that.

I'm going BJJ mainly right now but also judo and muai thai on the side.

Yeah a good throw and you have 3-5 seconds where you can do whatever you want to them. Ground and pound, arm bar, penalty kicking their skull, whatever.

You can get a ton of exercise at a well-run judo practice of a similar sort to what you'd get at a boxing practice. What I said "conditioning you need to train judo successfully and safely," I mean that extra conditioning and mobility work is pretty much necessary if you're going to train at the tempo of a serious competitor. High volumes of sparring will put hard miles on your body if you don't keep it built up, and strength can be super handy in competition.

Go the master route. Mainly do kyokushin for your striking, and crosstrain with a bit of a boxing or kickboxing.

How come nobody ever talks about Greco Roman/Catch/Freestyle Wrestling?
I feel like a wrestle would fuck shit up real good.
