I drove my friend home the other day and as I was about to leave he gave me a 5lb bottle of whey protein. About a pound was taken already, but I'm wondering if three whey protein shakes a day is a sustainable diet for gaining muscle and losing fat?

Your body needs essential fatty acids and micronutrients like vitamins and minerals to function properly. Not only will you feel like a bag of ass because you have no real energy macros (carbohydrates and then fats) you will suffer several different deficiency based disease that can kill you, or just fuck you up for life.

Not really. Multivitamins are a pharmacy meme as most of the micronutrients in them wont be properly absorbed, not to mention it is not all the ones you need.
The main issue here is that of 3 macro nutrients (protein, fat, carbs), youre only really getting one. Cutting down your carbs is okay because theyre just an energy source (although you'll feel like ass for a while = keto flu). But fats are necessary for proper hormone production. If you dont eat enough healthy fats, say goodbye to your testosterone, and a handful of other hormones

Adressing another main issue here is that 3 protein shakes a day is nowehere near the amount of calories you need for even basic metabolic function, not to mention building or maintaining muscle mass. You will end up aushwitz mode with terrible shits/farts if all you consume is protein shakes
