Do these things actually work?
Would /fit/ recommend it, or is there a better alternative?
rumbleroller if you can afford it

Yes. Just buy a 4" x 2' PVC pipe from home depot for $7, and a massage stick for $15. You can massage all tissue/muscle with the PVC, except the low back, or upper back too for some people. HSE the massage stick for all other parts. Also a tennis ball for glutes, feet, and back of shoulders.

Yes definitely, It's important to keep your muscles loose. I get runner knee without it.

Just buy a roller, its like $20

yes
Buy one. Use it.
If you don't like it, you'll still probably end up needing it in the future.
If your gym has one theres no need for one unless you have a specific problem. If you don't have a gym membership get one, its so satisfying hearing the spinal bones pop into place after a long day.

I don't like those ones
Pic related is perfect for me.
If your back is fine then I assume it would be pointless, but if you have tight muscles and aches then it works amazing. Such a satisfying feeling, feeling those clicks and pops and the release of tension.
For some reason those expensive rollers seem less effective for me.
so find a lot of articles that list benefits of foam rollers but how do they actually work? how does it relax muscles, it seems a little counterintuitive to apply a hard surface to your muscles.

What kind of fleshlight is this?

>clicks
>pops
wtf? I have one like pic related and have been using it daily for 4 months and really like it but I've never had any clicks or pops. it's like a poor man's massage (which is still nice when it's always there) that I use for my back and thighs. rubs the muscle deep.
