What is the most frugal diet ever? Like, the bare minimum to be in shape and fuel you each day, but at the absolute cheapest.

I've looked at sailors and prisoners but there doesn't seem to be enough protein. It's all just carbs.

depends greatly on where you live. in general you'd look at
>buy local fiberous starch, such as potatoes, lentils, beans, or rice in dry bulk
>buy local veg thats in season, broccoli, spinach, etc. sometimes flash frozen can be cheaper and just as nutritious
and
>local meat or protein (likely most expensive part),go for bean lentils or cheese if you can't afford meat
everything should be cheat except meat, I think most places that will be the most expensive thing. especially if you want good meat that nutritionally dense such as free range
>>
Rice. Chicken is very cheap in large quantities. Also nuts are very, very calorie-dense and also contain a fair amount of protein

Stacks of potatoes and random animal organs

Chickens must be allowed outside for a minimum of 10 minutes per day to be called free range
