Well fellas today I found out I have discs that buldge out from my lower vertebrae as well as arthritis in my lower back. The doctor says no matter what I will need surgery it'll just be years from now ( I turned 20 in April).
I can no longer due squats or play rugby unless I'm fine with speeding up the need for surgery. I asked my doctor and he said their is no increase risk of paralysis. He recommended me to a sports medicine specialist whi will be able to answer more of my questions with better knowledge.

What should I do? I'm fine with not squatting, there are workouts to supplement that, but I love playing rugby and it makes me happy when I get to play with my friends.

just stretch and dont lift for a while, it'll take about 6 to 12 months to fully recover. I've been dealing with mine since December.

I've been doing stretches that PTs have told me to. But they're saying I have severe spinal stenosis so I don't think rest and stretching will solve my problem

I had surgery and it worked out fine

>yes yes... trust the Doctors they are trained to (((help))) you

Whatever you do just ignore the surgeon, 9/10 a bulge will resolve. Do NOT get cut up for something as minor as that.

Look up spondylolisthesis, because that's what you'll get if you don't take it easy for a while. Go to PT stick with it for a couple of months, do it at home for a couple months more, do some yoga/bodyweight shit for a bit, then reset your lower body lifts to fucking zero and build back up slowly.

Had 2 surgeries for this shit at 24 and 27, once you get one surgery you will need more, the levels above the original will fuck themselves trying to compensate. It sucks, if you fuck your back bad enough you get to relearn to walk after surgery and have random spots on your lower body that just have no feeling whatsoever.

I've been taking it easy. I haven't been doing any lower Body besides leg extension stuff (doc said that was ok) i also haven't been doing any rugby. It all started cuz pain would shoot down my leg. I thought it was sciatica but i didn't think it'd be this

>play rugby

that's where you fucked up

it is scithica stop doing leg extensions.
its compressing the nerve which makes it shoot down the leg.
>>

It's not sciatica. I had an MRI done that showed the bulging discs in my lower vertabrae. My leg is feeling much better since doing my stretches
>>
>>41321030
then it could be gone. a bulging disc is a disc that is pushing out, the nerves get touched by it and it causes numbness. I've dealt with this for a long time, I wish you luck.

Thanks bro nice double dubs btw
>>
>>41321261
thanks, also dont get discouraged, I felt like my world ended when i was told i had degenrative disk. All it means is the spine issue is something they can not figure out, it could be multiple issues. If you are healing and you start to hurt dont give up either. Lastly do your stretches they do matter and will help SLOWLY.
>>
>>41321497
the worst thing you could do is give up and not do anything, it will cause it to get worse as the spinal erectors are very weak.

Thanks bros this was really upsetting news but it's nice having some light shed on it
