Has anyone else here start to hate video games after they became /fit/? I used to love playing video games but now it feels like a chore.
>>
i love them but whenever i try to play i get a feeling of guilt that i could be doing something more productive. so i stopped playing.
>>
>>41295485
kinda. I don't play them as often. I also watch a lot less anime.
>>
They don't feel fulfilling anymore, that's for sure
>>
>>41295485
the only game I play online is chess
>>
>>41295485

I'm still a degenerate even after becoming fit.

The best part about it is having girls notice you more and being suprised when they find out you like cartoon girls more than them
>>
>>41295485
Haha yes! Even phone apps I don't play anymore. Fell for the fit/lit thing before it was even a meme.
>>
I'm playing LoL right now...

Nope. Did 2 hours at the gym this morning then sent home and played Skyrim until it was time to go to work
>>
>>41295485

let go of the feeling of them wasting your time and you'll enjoy them again

posting here isn't any better
>>
I got into visual novels instead.
>>
I play one (1) video game now. They're just not fun
>>
I don't hate video games, but I've become much more picky with them. Mostly all I play anymore is R6 Siege. I would say the closest way to explain it is to say I don't particularly care about videogames anymore, but I play certain ones that feature things I like.
>>
>>41295485
I enjoy videogames from a hobbyist's perspective now.

I am designing my own actually. What better than to graduate from consumption to creation? I still love vidya.
>>
>>41295485
I rarely play them anymore, and when I do it's almost always just as a social thing to do with friends, like how I might play a board game.
Sometimes I play older single player games, like half life 1 and 2 or the starcraft campaigns, but it's pretty rare.
Anyway, it's certainly improved the other aspects of my life, so I'm happy with the loss of interest.
>>
>>41295485
for a little bit, but then i got back into them when i discovered the Souls games

let me shill a little video i made for titanfall 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cviVhtoAiME
>>
I have grown to hate them with a passion and only occasionally touch them. They have taken too many days I will never get back, days I could have used making real memories.
>>
>>41295694
Replace "video games" with "women" and your post is even more /fit/ related
>>
>>41295485
Because becoming /fit/ sounds like it came with a whole bunch of other things. You hitting the gym hopefully resulted in your studying harder/working harder, hanging out with friends more, doing more with life in general. Getting fit isnt just the gym only the way many treat it but its also part of a lifestyle that involves more. Its this more stuff that slowly pushes your vidya out of the way, not the lifting alone. Why come home from the gym and play games when you can grab a bite with friends? Why stay up all night playing when you have an 8am lecture?

Getting /fit/ didnt stop you playing games, getting /fit/ improved your life and your improved life has no place for vidya it seems

I love vidya, but I cut down on my playing because I know I'll get addicted again and lose my gains. fat->fit. never going back.
>>
>>41295485
I only play pdox games or football manager. I occasionally fire up an emulator to play an NES game or SNES that I grew up with if I'm feeling nostalgic or if my wife wants to play mario kart

I also play fifa/nhl with friends
>>
>>41295485
vidya on weekends, homework/lifting the rest of the week. pretty comfy but still no gf and i really like vidya.
>>
I'm autistic so i like racking up stats in sports games. It gives a feeling like scratching a misquito bite
>>
>>41295485
i've been thinking of getting back into WoW

i miss it
>>
>>41295658
i'm in the same boat, i own about 8 games. just played through half life 2 for the first time last month and holy hit i was blown away one of the best games i've ever played and it deserves all the hype
>>
>>41295485
Same. Got fit and stopped playing any games (aside from the occasional casual mobile game.)

Sometimes I miss it, but towards the end it just started feeling like a waste of time. All the hours I spent gaming could have been better spent lifting, learning skills, making money, and getting girls.
>>
>>41295774
Yeah I own a ton of games I bought years ago which I never play and regret buying. But I do replay half life 2 at least once a year, and I always enjoy it.
>>
>>41295774

I only play Battlefield 1 every once in a while, and I will play 1-2 games every few days. It feels good to be really enjoying something in moderation.

>>41295639
Which one?
>>
Not really. I get good grades lift and do cardio, manage to get laid once in awhile, and still love to play games. I probably still will when I've got a career too
>>

>>
>>41295580
>example of how getting fit doesnt cure autism
>>
>>41295485
It just feels like a massive waste of time now.

I have so many games in my steam queue that I hear have good stories and I'd probably enjoy playing, but I can't bring myself to do it.
>>
>>41295935
Rising Storm.
>>
>>41296017
cool. the graphics look like of like butt but i am glad you're having fun
>>
>>41296023
Yeah, it's pretty fun. I used to play Madden 17 religiously, but I've found that I get way too mad at the game and its flaws, and I'd rather not allow myself to intentionally cultivate those negative emotions.
>>
>>41296032
good idea! getting frustrated is never fun. games can feel like jobs too quickly
>>
Games with friends occasionally and single player games very rarely and only if they have a good story.

Since December or so I've beaten Witcher 3 and gotten pretty far in The Last of Us after having both for ages.

But me and like five other people spent last weekend together drinking and we kept switching out until we beat Broforce and kept failing at Enter the Gungeon..

Games aren't really that fulfilling anymore alone tbqh.

>>
I've sworn off time sink games like counter strike or dota, but I still play finite games where there is just a single player bit that you eventually complete.
>>
>>41296073
Yeah but thats Mage Knight, I have only ever been able to play that myself because no one else wants to go through the cluster fuck of a learning process.
>>
>>41295838
i fuckin loved the bit with boat

best bit for me was either the revolution or the siege on the compound with the bug bait

hell the whole game is fantastic
>>
>>41295485

I haven't played video games for about 2 years now and am so out of the loop I'll probably never go back.

I realised it was the end when this whole Overwatch thing started and I have no clue what it was(still don't). Few years ago I'd probably have been all over it.

It's sad because /v/ was my home for like 6 years. I genuinely had so much fun over there.
>>
I stopped playing them to get /fit/ since I was burnt out on the. I was tired of them consuming my life and making me feel drained.
>>
>>41295968
Let's hope we get some high level earth and water spells, am I right?
>>
I was growing out of it anyway. Also zelda botw was the best game ever and nothing will top it for a long time so it was good timing

Fighting games like street fighter are the only games I can really play and enjoy now a days. I like the training aspect of it and I do bodyweight and yoga exercises between matches on active rest days. Can't play the escapism type games much. Getting fit has made me stop being a degenerate. Not sure if it's the lifting or the aspect of wanting to improve my self from the gross neet I was.

>>
>>41295485

I use to play games a lot. They made me happy, made me less bored, but much of it was just to waste time. Im older now with a career and little time for other hobbies. When I try and get back to playing games, I feel like Im wasting time. I could work out more to get fit. I could focus on my career to become better and make more money. I could go shopping to buy better clothing to look nicer. I could visit friends and family or just hang out with them.

I stopped playing games because I know my time could be better used for other activities I find more fulfilling.
>>
>>41297209
I'm playing it now, my roommate bought it...been sinking a lot of time into it, and it does feel somewhat wasted but the game is so incredible that it's like experiencing a significant cultural phenomenon. (Plus I've played nearly every Zelda game before it and hold a soft spot in my heart for the series) First and last game in a long time for me

Not hate, but I realised it's better to level up for real instead of doing so in video games.

I also do a "lazy weekend" session max once a month or so, it's kinda like a cheat day and quite nice.

No, I am part of a clan in a popular game that has made thousands of dollars by winning tournaments (don't ask me which).

For me gaming is a different type of sport. When you can fill in an entire stadium that wants you watch you play, then it means you are doing something important.
>>
>>41295639

I stick to games I played when I was a kid. Fallout 1 and 2, Settlers 2, Tomb Raider. Maybe Starcraft, maybe Diablo 2.

Its not really so much the games themselves as the false sense of achievement they give you. After years of that in teen years its more a habit than anything. They're also a primary form of escapism for depressed people

There are tons of games where exploring is rewarding, and missions aren't required. You could REALLY get in to Souls games, but they might be a little hard if you've never touched a game. Lots of other shit you'd love though.

I got bored of most of them a few years ago. Like a lot here, it seemed like a waste of time and they didn't hold my attention any more.

I like some RPGs these days though with a good story, tend to play them at weekends instead of watching a film / tv for example
>>
>>41299512
>Lots of other shit you'd love though.
Could you recommend some? I used to watch Uncharted let's plays and found myself wanting to buy the game just to explore the environment. I also used to load up my cousin's GTA just to use cheats to explore the desert with a jetpack and shit lol
>>
>>41299829
Depends. It sounds like you might enjoy sandbox and RPG games with exploration.

Sandbox:
Garry's Mod
Space Engineers
Starbound/Minecraft
Kerbal Space Program

RPG or exploration you may enjoy:
Dragon Dogma
GTA of course. The new one is great you'd love just exploring around and fucking shit up.
Mount and Blade Warband. You're just a guy but you can do anything. Become a bandit, a king, a noble, a vassal for a country, a soldier in an army.
Elder Scrolls games. Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim.
Red Faction Guerilla let's you blow up buildings and fuck around a lot. Open world.
Dragon Age Origins
Gothic 1,2,3
Dead rising

Idk man just look for RPGs, open world, and sanbox games. Plenty of stuff you'll love.
>>
I just can't get off on the fake sense of achievement games give you that I had when I was a teenager. Thank God.
>>
>>41299960

>>
I always tended to prefer stuff like Day Z and skyrim/new vegas modded to be more realistic and survival oriented. Fad games like Overwatch and whatever the latest DOTA abomination is were just things I did to play with friends and waste time.

Now that I'm getting back on the fit train, I'm losing interest in all those insubstantial trash games in favor of the survival simulators. I think its like junk food vs real food. Games that can teach you useful things become more appealing as you better yourself and everything else less so.

And yes, you do learn useful things from survival games. Time and resource management, risk/reward assessment, situational awareness, planning and in the case of Day Z, group cooperation, tactics, problem solving, spacial memory, etcetera. All in a context applicable to the real world.

Except the zombies part, but everyone who's played it knows it isn't about the zombies at all. Of course it can't compare to going out to camp, hunt and fish for real but these are things most people today can't do on a regular basis. Which is a shame because these are skills no one should be without.

I highly recommend them to anyone that's fit and repulsed by the fetid cesspool that has always been the gaming industry.

I'm actually playing more games now. I used to kinda do nothing but jerk off and browse the internet.
>>
Last year during my freshman year, I used to wake up at 7, go lift, go to classes, go study/do homework, then play video games and sometimes hang with friends.
I really only played Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, No Limits, and Battlefield 3. I was only able to play video games because I didn't do shit last year. I thought I could just rely on my grades for medical school, so I actually got my shit together this year in terms of extracirricular activities.
This year, I haven't had time for any video games, unfortunately. I get a little nostalgic because my suitemate took 12 hours of bullshit classes, and I always hear him playing Overwatch all day.

But I also replaced video games with teaching myself the guitar.

Schizoid here, video games are keep me from going full bat shit.

I've got bored of video games many times and every time I stop playing them my life gets worse, because I can't into relationships and always have a need to create imaginary stuff, video games help with the schizoid stuff on that regard.

Yet here you are

Depends. I use to play games a lot. Now I just watch Netflix and browse /fit/ looking at half naked dudes.

My life has never been better since I stopped playing video games. I remember my dad always telling me to go out during my teenage years and stop being a hermit in the basement. He was totally correct.

I always winder how my bone structure would have changed if I played a contact sport during puberty. Both my parent have good genes, but I fail in comparison to my dads. Skeletal wise, least not intellegence (I don't think)

Note to anyone who underage and lurking. Don't waste your puberty eating a low protein high car (chips and soda) diet. Get out and join a contact sport, and fill yourself up with protein and calcium.

Also, start reading.

I regret so much, but ill never make the mistake of being degenerate again. Well, apart from posting on this Chinese knitting and papercraft image board.

Same here anon, it's really weird. I do nofap as well. That might affect it.

I honestly think no fap is worthless and all placebo unless you are doing it more than like 2-3 times a day.

Why won't Morgana let me hit the gym?

I would also reccomend Risen. It's bassicaly Gothic 1+2 with better graphics. I'm playing it and so far the game is comfy as fuck.
Although i'll warn you. The combat system will keep you on edge if ragequit when you face more than one enemy

I've been lifting since I was 12 and was running with my dad since I was old enough to walk and I've never been good at video games. I basically can't play anything that's come out past Half Life 2.

This.

I can't believe that people are insecure enough say crap like "umm I could do something more productive than playing videogames", yet browse this shithole like 10 hours a day.

Honestly I don't play videogames that much anymore, I only play terraria like 2 hours a week, a few mobile games (these hardly count though) and I go console whenever the new Souls game comes out.

4chan is the biggest timewaste in my life right now.

I occasionally play TF2 with friends. Besides that I don't really play anymore. I was also really into the Batman: Arkham series in terms of single player, but I've kinda stopped playing those.

I feel the same.

I've been meaning to play the new Zelda game, but I've been putting it off. Actually, I need to get the damn console to even get started. I have the money and time to play vidya, but I've been busy with other things.
