I feel like OHP are one of the safest lifts for this reason. If you are ever at risk of failure, you won't get the bar above your nose.

It's basically just 5/3/1 but block periodization and enough volume to actually realize some hypertrophy.

Last thing to come in will be the delt/trap shelf. Naturally, it takes forever to get thick and wide in the shoulders and traps. I've been lifting for over a decade (not necessarily for aesthetics, played sports and all that jazz) and my shoulders didn't really start coming in thicc until a few years ago.

I'm 2 and a half years into training. So got some nice gains and started competing at powerlifting meets but not advanced.

I enjoy Texas Method tho only started it recently. I did SL to MadCow which was fine but the under exert for 4 weeks then over exert from then on before resetting thing on MadCow annoyed me.

Texas Method is great so far. It just needs more bb type accessory work for thicc mode. But adding much upper body hypertrophy work is hard since TM is a tough routine that leaves you beat up especially on Mondays/Volume Day.

I'd aim for 15%. Slightly lower or higher depending on personal preference.

I did TM with a split template, each lift twice per week and much lower volume than 5/3/1 and made great gains.

There was some bullshit article published on SS in which the writer (rip?) shat on the TM and 5/3/1 and /plg/ has parrotted how terrible they both are ever since. Rippetoe and that lot definitely have their merits but they hve been wrong as fuck on more than one occasion.

My routine isn't too regular since I'm a submariner and our schedule sucks. But I deadlift heavy at least 3 times a week, conventional and unassisted. I've been lifting for a long time so it's more just doing what my body feels like doing over following a written routine. I generally focus on the big compounds and don't do much isolation work.

DL friday, cleans after volume squats on monday and make good use of recovery day.

The 531 for beginners is quite good, and there's the krypteia which essentially it's just 531 with FSL and 2 accessories in a pull/push format, plus some box jumps and med ball throws for warmups and explosiveness, it's not the best for full PL program but it's great for general strength building and conditioning

My Gym has like 10 benches so there's typically one free, and I clean my OHP's. Hogging the squat rack is an issue but you can get through the dropsets pretty quickly once you get into it.

I started stronglifts, fucking hated squatting every session (although ironically I now do 1xBW squats to warm up every session) so I swapped at like 40/90/90/120 kg. Definitely made progress faster than on stronglifts, got to 1234 in about 4-6 months (although the 4 was belted 1rm). Until I hear otherwise I'm sticking to proven tested and well documented routines like TM & 5/3/1 with variations or accessories my powerlifting club coach suggests or gets me doing.

I agree TM and 5/3/1 probably aren't optimal for /plg/ where all they care about is numbers on the bar, and a non-cookie cutter tailored routine from an actual coach or more advanced methodology like Sheiko or Smolov is better for them.

But for /thicc/ where we're as much about size and a certain aesthetic as just numbers on the bar, I still think well tested proven simple intermediate barbell strength routines like TM and 5/3/1 are the best base. Tho obviously they need bb accessory work added in for our purposes as is said repeatedly.

Conditioning is hugely important given part of the philosophy is to have actual sports ability and compete in strength or contact sports like raw powerlifting, oly lifting, Shotput, Rugby, MMA, boxing etc. Which are often weight class based. You can't be fat.

I just want to get strong and enjoy lifting for the feeling but if I had to pick a body type get it would be this, I'm skeleton mode light build as fuck though and at 6'1" would need to add 50lbs + to ever look like this. 10x15 low cable rows
5xf pull ups
5xf hammer curls
10x15 incline dumbbell rows(take an incline bench and rest your chest on the bench and do dumbbell rows)

And I do deadlifts on a seperate day usually

I personally wouldnt do a skin operation until after first bulk and cut cycle. Skin needs about 1-2 years to recover after losing that much weight from what I've read.

I personally went from 300 lbs to about 175 lbs at 6'4" and just started first bulk few weeks ago. Was considering cutting further but I'd just look like a spooky skelly. Also considering skin surgery for lower stomach.

This is about the heaviest I've been. I was never really any fatter than I am now. I played football when I was younger to build a good strength base, competed in bodybuilding for a handful of years to put on mass, now I just like lifting heavy so I've put on more mass and some fat to look like I do now.

There was a short period of time in college when I stopped lifting and got a little fat, was around 220 but closer to 25 percent bodyfat. I cut down to 175 and worked my way back up, staying relatively lean throughout. Sorry, but I don't really have any advice for cutting down from high body fat percentages because I've never really had one.

I think you'll find that 190 will be too small for what you'll need to be thicc at 6'2" and be able to cover up the excess skin you developed via being obese. If you're 229 now, I'd eat closer to maintenance and do a routine of both powerlifting and hypertrophy techniques. Just about any guy who has been obese to the point of getting gyno/excess skin can only get away with becoming "bear mode" strong. Takes years to achieve natty, don't ever get discouraged.
