Who is /fat/ for? Fat members of /fit/ who want
>Lose weight
>Get a more /fit/ body by lifting weights
>Autistically change your diet to some ultra vegetable no sweets autism because extremism is always good am i right ;^)
Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another if you are too weak to survive solo. We all know losing weight when you are fat is easy if you just reduce calorie intake, literally piece of cake. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need to lose weight for a number of reason. Please be warned that there are some chronic idiots who post in this general giving horrible advice to troll or to reassure their extremist autism works for themselves, don't bother, always remember calorie intake, if it is lesser than how many calories your body burns you ll be fine.
And remember, if you are a loser when fat you ll still be a loser if you are thin, your weight isn't the problem.

What are your guys' thoughts on surviving on mostly greek yogurt and multivitamins? I'd have a normal meal at least once a day.

What are the possible consequences/repercussions of this?
>>
>>41104430
Yes that time could have been better spend wanking, playing video games or watching anime right fatty?
>>
>>41105336
just eat normally ffs. you don't even need multivitamins if you eat vegetables.
>>
Tfw you've lost just enough that your bmi says you are now overweight and not obese anymore
>>
>>41105417
On the other hand, you'll spend less money getting micronutrients from a multivitamin instead of vegetables and fruits. Not ideal, nutrition-wise since there's non-essential substances in those foods that are beneficial to health, but you can halve your daily food expenses by cutting out foods that are low in calories-per-dollar.

Sounds awful and you'll get bored and tired of it. Also, terrible poops.

Instead focus on adding more vegetables to your diet. Crowd your plate with vegetables so you have less room for unhealthy stuff. You can still eat it, just eat less of it.

It's fucking happening lads. 5'11", down below 185 for the first time since I started weighing myself like a decade ago. That's the least I've weighed in my adult life. Now that I've beaten my initial goal of 185, where should I stop? Middle of healthy BMI, or just cut till I like how I look?

>>41104577
>>41104755
I concur, please use the Wojak.
>>
>>41105499
>>41105417
Thanks for the input guys.

I normally do have chicken and broccoli/cauliflower/carrots (and some more greek yogurt) at least once a day.

I've mainly substituted greek yogurt for snacks and breakfast mostly. Essentially, whenever I get hungry and it's not mealtime, I just eat some greek yogurt. It's only been maybe a month and I haven't gotten tired of it yet. More than most things I eat, consuming greek yogurt actually makes my body feel good/positive, so I find it decent and satisfying enough to regularly eat.
>>
>>41105504
I don't have any advice but just congrats nigga, I'm proud of you. you're doing good shit.

Greek yogurt + liquid water flavoring squirt bottle shit = ice cream. It's god-tier for a diet food.
>>
>>41105561
Hey man, greek yogurt is great and I eat it as a snack every day. It's awesome that it keeps you full and makes you feel good, but replacing all your meals with yogurt definitely isn't the answer.

I've noticed too that I feel a lot better on days when I eat clean and pump myself full of vegetables than if I have a cheat day or end up slipping. Keep it up, we're gonna make it!

Is canned food any good for lazies like myself?
>>
>>41105680
The longer you take it the more potent it gets
>>
>>41105694
Do you mean like a complete meal in a can, like chili or soup? Or things like tuna or chicken, canned vegetables, etc.?
>>
>>41105916
Any of those, really
>>
>>41105938
Alright, the only meal in a can type things I've used are corned beef hash and canned chili. I like to have a few cans around for days when I'm out of fresh food but can't be assed to go shopping. They're heavier on the carbs than meets my macros, but as long as it's not an every day thing it's fine if it fits your deficit. There's also soup, that tends to be lighter on calories, just check labels.

Tuna and chicken in the can are godsend pantry staples, no question there. I'm not a veg expert but if you don't mind the texture of canned vegetables I think they're okay. I'm far too lazy to soak beans, so black beans in the can are the only way I get them.

I'm not sure if your question was about completely structuring your diet around canned food, but if it is, that's probably a bad idea.
>>
>>41105694
If you're too lazy to cook, how do you expect to not be lazy and go to the gym? Sort your fucking life out, mate.
>>
>>41105971
>completely structuring your diet around canned food
Nah, it's just for days where I don't feel like making anything. Thanks for answering.
>>
>>41105980
I'd rather see someone throw a can of chicken together with some black beans and spices and put that on rice or a tortilla than have them say "Fuck it, cooking is too hard, I'll get a big mac." It's not ideal but it's a decent backup option for days when you are rushed or unmotivated.
>>
>>41106036
True, I thought he meant making that an all the time thing. Just trying to motivate with tough love, anon.

Well /fat/, Easter has come and gone and with that, so has Lent.

I gave up beef and pork for lent. I wanted to clear my system because my doctor suggested I cut it out as I have low good cholesterol.

With Easter past, I don't really feel the need to go back to eating red meat. Fish and chicken are top tier foods and when you eat them it doesn't make you feel shit (emotionally and physically) like eating a burger does.

I started cutting in January and I'm down from 240 to 200 just from IF and light strength training every day.

I've started running now but I'd like to get some harder training done. Any suggestions for further home training? I'd ideally like to lose a bit more weight before hitting the gym, or should I just start going now?
>>
>>41109143
Yeah, generally after maybe 5 minutes of straight running, my shin started aching. I kept going past it because i thought it was just because I was a fat slob and my body would adapt. Eventually, I went too far one session and I had to painfully limp back home.
>>
>>41109143
I'm a fatty, started doing couch to 5k, shin pain was unimaginable during the run portions by like week 3. Since then I've started lifting and doing HIIT on our elliptical. I'll run when I'm not so fat, but can't do it right now (291 down from 328)

>>41109127
This has been one of the primary reasons I'm staying on track. I love my fitbit. Sleep tracking is really helpful, too. Getting it to integrate with MFP can be a pain in the dick sometimes, but honestly, it's probably the number one thing I'd recommend for people losing weight. When I finally make it, I'm going to shill all over for them on Youtube and try to get a spokeman deal out of it.
>>
>>41109156

Reverse calf raises to strengthen your tibialis anterior. It works in tandem with your calf when running. The calf pushes you forward, and the tibialis absorbs the impact of your foot hitting the ground. If you have thicc calves from lifting or being a fatlord, they may be overdeveloped compared your tibialis; so your legs aren't tired, but your shins start hurting like crazy because your tibialis can't keep up.

Another day in the books. Do any of the rest of you enter all your food in at the beginning of the day? I find it helps me stay on track, by having a plan and refusing to deviate from it.
>>
>>41110469

It's pretty good. It's definitely the best way for fitting some junk in there because you can adjust your other foods so that your macros remain the same as usual. And it really helps motivation since you don't have to fight yourself as much over whether you can eat something or not. The downside is that spontaneous invitations to eat are doubly annoying since it messes up your plans for the day, if you've already eaten one planned meal.

No, extreme diets don't work. You can't fix it all in one go. You have to start consistently tracking your calories and eating at maintenance if you want to maintain your current weight.

Binging and then starving like you're thinking of doing kicks you into a binge-starve cycle that'll make you gain weight faster than anything. Eat too much => feel guilty => starve yourself => get overwhelmingly hungry => eat too much => feel guilty and so on and so forth. Just stop eating too much and resist the urge to "make up for it" with retarded fasts because it'll just make you binge again and it's not sustainable.

If you want to drop weight go for a 500 cal deficit a day. If you go too low it'll be unsustainable and it'll also sabatoge you by wrecking your metabolism. So find a TDEE calculator and Google the calories in anything you're eating that doesn't already have a calorie count on it. Eat 500 fewer calories than your TDEE. Boom, weight loss.

For example, my current TDEE is 2500, so I'm eating about 2000 cals a day.

First things first, read the board sticky and the attached guide because it's got a bunch of info you should know, though I'll answer it here for convenience:

http://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>I've never actually tracked my calories before.

Then start doing so. Get a notebook or get one of those calorie tracking programs and start logging down calorie counts for every meal. You'll be surprised how quickly shit adds up.

>What if I don't know how many calories are in it? I've tried one of those apps and they fucking blow.

Are you getting prepared food for every meal or something that would keep you from being able to check nutritional labels? If you are you need to cut that stuff out and start preparing food for yourself and taking note of the nutritional info for your logging. Most everything should have the nutritional content on there and for stuff that doesn't like meat there's google or the USDA's food database:

https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list

For stuff that has variable serving sizes like anything served with a spoon, you need to get one of these and use it for those sorts of foods:

https://www.amazon.com/Ozeri-Digital-Multifunction-Kitchen-Elegant/dp/B004164SRA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492478975&sr=8-1&keywords=ozeri+kitchen+scale

>How low can I go? Between 500-1000 is good a day right?

No, you can only go so far from your maintenance level intake before your BMR starts getting hosed up and nosedives because your body's going into survival mode. Go here and plug in your information:

https://tdeecalculator.net/

You want to go about 1,000 below your maintenance requirements for daily consumption so you'll burn off about 2 lbs a week. You'll also want to do cardio and weightlifting to maintain or improve your strength since those'll burn extra fat and help you get fit since some muscle will be lost as well during dieting.

>Is it also true I should drink nothing but water?
Generally yes though really anything without sugar.
>>
>>41112260
>>41112269
wait whats wrong with eating at a deficit that high? my TDEE is around 2400~ and i eat close to around 1600 calories daily.
>>
>>41112309
Nothing wrong with eating a bit low. It's tough to maintain but if you're really overweight you can manage a deep deficit easily. The guy was just indicating he had an eating disorder.
>>
>>41112341
>The guy was just indicating he had an eating disorder.
Woah man it ain't that bad
>>
>>41112309
Should be OK, 1k deficit is as high as you can go safely so at 800 you should be fine.

The bigger the deficit the harder it is to maintain and the more likely you are to rebound though.
>>
>>41112355

>>41112280
> getting hosed up and nosedives because your body's going into survival mode
Do you really believe in that nonsense though? Your body holds onto fat for a reason. It isn't going to go into a "starvation mode" because you are only eating one meal a day. It just doesn't work like that.
>>
>>41112711

>>

>>
>>41112711
Two pounds per week is a pretty aggressive deficit. Might work for someone who weighs 400 pounds, but not 250. A 500 deficit is a pound per week, 350 is a pound per 10 days. So maybe aim between those two, you can lose 3-4 pounds per month. (You'll also likely lose another 5-10 pounds early on from dumping water weight, especially if you drop your carb intake.)

Alright, can't do this anymore. I need to hit my goal and then I'll go back to being fucking normal and eating right.

I'm taking a last hurrah tonight. I've been on keto/IF at 1800 for the last 12 months.

Tomorrow I'm going to do 1000 kcal a day until I drop the last of the weight.

Feed window is from noon until 8pm. I'll start with a protein shake with flax meal (4 tbps) at noon.

9 oz. of chicken breast at 4 pm seasoned with lawry's with a piece of colby jack on it.

Then at 7:30pm I'll have the same.

I'll hit my protein goal regardless, probably kickstart keto again and still shed with IF.

This is in addition to running twice a day (2h total) and doing PPL at the gym.

A) Is this sustainable for the final 20 lb cut?

B) Why do I hate myself enough to do this?

C) All I want is the belly and lovehandles to go... faster. It's been a year and a half of cutting and I just desperately want to see even the hint of definition in my stomach.

D) How long do ya'll think this will take?

Pic related. What i'm working with. Most of the gut is loose fat/skin at this point. I'm prepared to deal with it since i've lost 110 lbs at this point.

maintained a 1700cal (500cal deficit from 2250 maintenance, sedentary) for a couple weeks now

feeling pretty bloated since I was on LCHF, how do I recover from this? do I eat less tomorrow or just pretend it never happened and continue with my deficit?

also they have curly fries, which are the best type of fry after waffle fries

>>
>>41115448
just eat some fucking food anon. but not too much. like 2k cal a day. if you're really huge you can probably lose fast eating like 2500, even. you can adjust down from there as you get used to not eating so much.
>>
>>41115471
I'm short too like 5'3
so 2000 is like a surplus for me
>>
Daily reminder that retards who endlessly spout "only a 500cal deficit/pound a week" are not only fatasses who will never make it but are also neets. It's much better to eat at 1500cals and occasionally have a meal with friends or family, or a weekend social drink, than automatically monitor your entire diet to only lose half a pound a fucking week, where eating a pizza can literally delay your cut by a month. If you're counting calories you might as well not spend 2 years doing it to get to your goal weight
>>
>>41115471
>>41115501
Look at what my fitness pal tells you to lose if you can't calculate your TDEE and shit yourself.

For your height, assuming you're femlet like me, 1200-1400 is what you need, no less than 1000. No human can do well on less than 1000 consistently.

Read the sticky, anon.

>>41115503
You wrote that so incoherently i can't tell what you're trying to say lol.

Eating at a deficit leads to fat loss. Period.

The body on average will lose 1-2 pounds a week healthily. The first few weeks to a month you might lose more, especially if you're huge (I lost 20 pounds my first two weeks). It's water weight.
>>
>>41112472
really? you add water
>>
>>41115310
It's one thing to do PSMF on 800 calories for 2 weeks. It's another to get into the regular habit of eating only 500 calories. Starving yourself is unsustainable in the long term, will cut down your lean body mass, and kill your metabolism.
>>
>>41110921
Eat more before bed time, starve more in the morning and afternoon.
>>
>>41111235
If you're looking to minimize cost, you'll find that the foods with the best ratio of calories to cost are plant-based: oats, rice, lentils, pasta. They are mostly just carbs which means you'll need sources of protein and fat. Since you're also cutting your protein source needs to be really high protein or you won't be able to get enough without getting too many calories. Soy groats are a pretty cheap complete protein source but has some carbs too. This makes protein powder a necessity. Fat will have to be added from oil and butter. I'd recommend using proper butter in addition to whatever oil is cheapest because the cheapest oil is probably not a good source of saturated fats. Saturated fats should be about 25% of total fats so adding butter is necessary.

I'm not fat and not cutting atm so I can get more protein from foods other than protein powder but I still use it. My maximally cost-optimized diet that I think is pretty well optimized for health is:

140g rolled oats
140g macaroni
70g green lentils
80-200g white rice
60g soy groats
90g whey concentrate
20g flax seed
30g rape seed oil
20g butter
4g coconut oil
normal salt and mineral salt to keep sodium at 2.2g and potassium at around 4g
multivitamin daily
fish oil capsules for 2.5g EPa and 0.7g DHA daily
vitamin D weekly to make my average at least 50ug
vitamin K every other day (rape seed oil is a good source of K but my daily average without a supp is about half the RDI)
creatine
melatonin

juice concentrate + 15g sugar on lifting days as gym drink

Total macros are around 150g protein, 300-400g carbs, 80g fats, 40g fiber for 2500-3000kcal. Changing the white rice quantity is how I change total calories while keeping other macros almost unaffected. All of this, including the creatine and melatonin, costs 3.15-3.50€ per day for me. I'm in Finland, so you'll have to see what things are cheapest where you are. You'll end up with a different combinations of foods most likely.
>>
>>41112732
>you can only go so far from your maintenance level intake before your BMR starts getting hosed up and nosedives because your body's going into survival mode

BMR will start to decrease on a caloric deficit. The decrease is gradual and after months of dieting the total drop can be substantial. But it won't "nosedive" suddenly because of fasting or whatever. The rate of decrease is probably faster on a larger deficit but there's no magic threshold where it would suddenly crash. Changing it back to normal happens gradually too so calories will need to be raised slowly after a long cut.

Beans are god-tier.
>high fiber

I would balance it out though, since beans alone don't form a complete protein. Beans+corn or beans+rice are complete proteins and are a lot more filling than beans alone.

I'm 5'2 (yes legit fatty here)

I tend to eat eggs and cottage cheese for breakfast, I stray from breads and cereals 90% of the time in the morning.

Lunches depend altogether but normally it's like a sandwich (lunch meat) with an apple or fruitcup, and sometimes I'm lucky my work's kitchen has mixed veggies or lots of broccoli in the kitchen I'm allowed to have. I eat a snack(usually a fruit grain bar or protein bar, banana) between breakfast and lunch.

And then for dinner I'm normally eating either chicken or some kind of meat with a vegetable or another fruit.

Before I go to bed I take a bedtime fatburner. During the day I drink the equivalent of 7 water bottles from when I wake up to when I go to bed.
