If you mean boosting it with a cheat meal then no iy doesn't work. If you have been cutting for 3 months then a diet break of 3-4 weeks at maintenance is a good idea. The main metabolic change is in nom exercise physical activity. You just start moving less to conserve energy. The main benefit is hormonal. Long cuts will give you a poot cortisol testosterone balance. Low test is clearly bad. High cortisol messes up recovery, stops muscle growth, promotes muscle loss, and leads to more fat being taken from under you skin rather than inside your abdomen. The last point is why usually only older men can achieve striated glutes, but their v tapers aren't great.

Basically, leptin is produced by the fat, and if ýou have high leptin levels, the body thinks you have lots of fat, so boosting your leptin levels every so often speeds up your metabolism.

I'd suggest eating 30-50% more than usual, during one day. All the extra calories should probably come from carbs.

Also, depending how long you've been cutting for decides how long you should refeed. If it's been a while, you might benefit from a full week of eating more calories, preferably from carbs.
